They got ousted by the power elite.......because they were too popular with the voters. "No more slip-ups" means that the Shinawatras will toe the line and work for the well-being of the minority power elite........not for that of the voting majority. That was/is the fundamental essence of the whole deal that, among other things, got her father back in the country and pardoned.

50,000 baht request from Thai long time friend.
Enoon replied to brianthainess's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
I would do nothing. -
It's been written to agree with expat opinion. That's how the media acquires and retains its target segment......it tells the segment what it thinks the segment wants to hear. It agrees with it, laughs at its jokes and validates its prejudices.........just like the best mate it wants the segment to think it is.

The video was uploaded 3 months ago. The video was shot sometime between October '22 and April '23. At that time the UK/Turkey partnership (drone from Turkey, weapons fit and testing from UK company) were looking for a manufacturer. An agreement was signed with Taiwan in September '23........looks like one or more people working on the video made the common mistake of confusing Taiwan with Thailand. https://www.janes.com/osint-insights/defence-news/air/tadte-2023-geosat-to-produce-jackal-uavs-in-taiwan

I know I've read and enjoyed "Imperium" but not sure if I have read either of the following two. Perhaps you know enough of Egypt to want to read this, but it opened my eyes to enough things to have made it worthwhile for me:

Latest developments and discussion of recent events in the Ukraine War
Enoon replied to Rimmer's topic in The War in Ukraine
In the context of this conflict they are unlikely to be used against targets in Ukraine, but more likely against Ukrainian forces in Russia. One of the reasons for the Ukrainian offensive is to demonstrate that his nuclear threats are a bluff. -
A feeble comparison. The Russian invasion of Ukraine is just as unacceptable, to me, as the 2003 invasion of Iraq was to me. I would not have been disturbed if the forces that did that had been pushed back to their start lines. I will be delighted when Russia has been pushed back to its start lines.

Rising Temperatures Threaten Thailand's Economy, Tourism, and Future
Enoon replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
You can take a horse to water, but you can't make it drink, You can take a man to knowledge, but you can't make him think. These people are not driven by a need to understand what is happening around them. They are driven by prejudice, emotion, and real hardcore ignorance and "million year mantra" stupidity. Don't waste your time with them. -
I just completed this quiz. My Score 70/100 My Time 95 seconds

"Developing/Developed Nation" is an economic term.........the nature of its governance has nothing to do with it. China and Russia are both developed. Thailand is a developing?/developed? nation whose governance is equivalent to that of a banana republic.

American father reunites with Thai daughter after 48 years apart
Enoon replied to webfact's topic in Isaan News
It certainly was......initially "informally". 1950: "The US Department of the Air Force has for sometime desired to negotiate a military air agreement with Thailand for aviation rights to provide for necessary flights. At present, however, there is an informal arrangement whereby US military air needs are met on an “ad hoc” basis, and it is present policy to delay formalizing the agreement in order to avoid jeopardizing the present satisfactory informal arrangements and to save Thailand from the multiple difficulties which would arise if other nations—possibly less friendly than the US—sought similar air rights." https://history.state.gov/historicaldocuments/frus1950v06/d858 Doubtless Korat Air Base was one location meeting the needs of the USAF. But later not so informally: Military Assistance Advisory Group was established in Thailand in 1950: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Military_Assistance_Advisory_Group Subsequently, by 1955, the US had spent $140.9 million on material and $2.8 million on training: https://history.state.gov/historicaldocuments/frus1955-57v22/d479 Difficult to imagine that training to the levels achieved/anticipated would not have meant keeping a fair few US military personnel in the country. -
American father reunites with Thai daughter after 48 years apart
Enoon replied to webfact's topic in Isaan News
Not sure why you are talking about "this mans father", Anyway......."Terry, a former American GI, was stationed in Nakhon Phanom, Thailand, 50 years ago during the Vietnam War" That would be 1974 Einstein......plenty of US military in Thailand at that time. -
Foreign Envoys Criticised for 'Undiplomatic Meeting' with Thai Opposition'
Enoon replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
“How can the Foreign Ministry allow the foreign envoys to receive only one-sided information? The ministry should respond to the matter,” she said. They would be receiving only one-sided information if they were only allowed to listen to the government. If she doesn't want the envoys to hear only one side then it is an absolute necessity that they listen to the opposition......and as many other civil groups as possible. Stupid cow.- 30 replies

Thailand unveils new visa rules, sparks mixed reactions
Enoon replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Yeah.......sad. Unfortunately your attempts to demean those who you hold in contempt because they have less money than you, and your overblown sense of entitlement, "entitles" you to no more than this:
