Well yes but truthfully your in a vulnerable state mentally during that procedure laying there & like you did ....I would guess the majority at that point do not decide but instead agree with what ever the doctor states is "their" pref. My guess is no western adult in their 60's could go for a angio & not have a doctor say Oh yes a stent would help because that is quite likely I believe it was Dr Pritikin that did autopsy/tests 19-21 year old dead American Soldiers during the Vietnam war & found a large amount had their main arteries occluded by large numbers due to our cheeseburger diets & what else we were raised on in those years ???? But lastly it seems some believe Stenting is overused in many countries https://www.aarp.org/health/conditions-treatments/info-2021/heart-stent.html

Yes but...I'm 99% sure with you having lived here 6 years but joined this forum 13 hours ago this is just a windup That aside if what you say above is true you would have no problems at all starting a relationship with a intelligent Thai woman. Because if you can speak/read/write Thai you can approach anyone you see that you think might be a nice try. Someone working or shopping you see & strike up a conversation etc etc etc It is not rocket science & has not changed in centuries

See this is the thing he may want to avoid on "their" word alone Seek another opinion via a CT angio scan with dye perhaps to get a more solid assessment before allowing a angio with them deciding then to stent or not. Maybe even just go get a simple CT Calcium score test & look at that as a precursor. Of course not as accurate as a CTA with dye but very non invasive & inexpensive place to start. Bangkok Hospital had a cardiac test package for like 4000 baht that included the CT Calcium score test & more This is Thailand & a second opinion is a good idea. Lastly does he have any actual symptoms other than a bad stress test? Chest Pain etc? Because so many overweight out of shape men have problems with a stress test as they do zero daily exercise. That does not guarantee blockages Good Luck to him though but again this is Thailand do not assume they do not prescribe unnecessary procedures they do. I have first hand experience with it (although kidney not heart related) & flew back to the USA to find their diagnosis was just that....wrong & prescribing an unnecessary operation PS: Bangkok Hospital does list some price ranges for angiograms stents ablations etc https://www.bangkokhearthospital.com/en/package/coronary-intervention-packages

For sure this is "part" of the problem but truthfully it is not likely the biggest part Look at what burns during burn season. Much or most of it not even from crop waste. But mainly Thai's use burning for everything from getting rid of trash to clearing underbrush on whole mountains. BTW: finding a cash use for framers husks/crop waste would be good incentive to bundle it. If govt bought it & used as a fuel to produce electricity same as Hawaii did for years with sugar cane waste. But then again that is just another type of burning

U.S. Seeks Strong Bilateral Ties as New Thai Government Forms
mania replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Beware this "business investments" is the excuse they used to overthrow Hawaii's Monarchy (Although it was Hawaii's fault for allowing Falangs/Haoles to own business in Hawaii) That aside Run Thailand Run! Be the Switzerland of Asia meaning a neutral country... Never allow USA nor China to tell you to bend over & spell RUN ???? -
Sounds great & trust me I wish it were true but.... As nice as it sounds to Water the Tree of Liberty with the Blood of Patriots... It is NOT the Thai way Thailand has had 13 successful and nine unsuccessful coups in just over a century. The most recent being in 2014. If the people you describe existed.... You would think someone... anyone.... even a single sniper? would have done something by now? NO It is not the Thai way Thai's are ingrained from birth to kowtow to uppers. Whether that be police, teachers, military, wealthy you name it they bow This is why it will be a loooong road out of this type of thinking. It will be a generation or two of youths stepping up to the plate Current Thai's will not stand in revolution & the history is there for all to see. Neither will a country ever step in to save them if they did. Same as Myanmar Thailand has nothing anyone really wants It is not Libya

Maybe...maybe not depends on who/what in the end runs the show. Remember Move Forward and Pheu Thai are nearly identical in votes/seats I think this is all as usual very suspect timing & I smell a rat. Top it off with the oh so coincidental promise of return next month by Thaksin Shinawatra figurehead of Pheu Thai ... just to raise grandkids of course ???? (which in itself smells more & more like a deal made) Remember too Pheu Thai did not promise a new minimum wage of ฿450 within 100 days of the new government taking up office. Nor does it stir any Les Majeste law overturns or Military reductions of power In the end this is looking more & more like SOP Thailand to me The BS 250 know they do not want Move Forward/Pita & they know they cannot go as far as putting Prayuth back in so this Pheu Thai may be the devil they know they can control as part of a deal + be accepted by a large portion of the Thai population Anyway my crystal ball could be wrong but I have watched long enough to have a hunch ????

That would be the case if it were a house but not the case if it is condo registered in the Foreigner owned 49 percentile of the building If it were part of the 51% Thai owned section of the building then maybe as you said, but the OP did not say he was Thai nor the condo was part of that 51% Thai section

Thai Bank Account for retirement...new rules?
mania replied to Dghart001's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
The easiest places to open accounts are always the banks in malls or part of the shopping complex's like Big C etc Try one that has a Bangkok Bank, SCB or Krungsri (bank of Ayudhya) -
Beauty Queen's Life Shattered by Autoimmune Disease: A Cautionary Tale

Seems pretty obvious -
Thanks that was a fascinating read & seems quite logical & in agreement with many other cardiologist info on the subject I have read. Here is another good read I recently found a year or two ago When You Really Need a Stent (or Don't)

Actually many Thai women have also found this place but usually as wives ???? Although we have met a few single ones who came for studies -
True but as in all things there are two types of retirees. Especially in a developing nation known for sex trade & cheap cost of living. So yes there are folks like yourself who pay their way & behave responsibly & there are those living on a wing & a prayer. It is the latter a country like Thailand fears because as you say they will disappear in a few years but countries like Thailand already stretched caring for their own worry about the influx of older folks in their final stretch not being able to properly care for themselves.

I would like to give Andorra a try ???? But truthfully my wife & I are very happy as is with not much money but a great home paid for in our current country & a paid for home in Thailand where we visit 3 months a year. Almost every day though we ask ourselves would we like to go back to full time in Thailand & in many ways we would (We previously lived full time in Thailand from 2011-2017) But as it stands we live in a beautiful mountain setting here at 4000' elevation & temperatures are always between 13-23c & crystal clear air quality AQI averages under 10 Again we are not rich but happy. We are not sure why we even question going back to full time in Thailand... I guess family & there is always something we miss...albeit much we also do not miss too...Immigration,bad air, dangerous roads, heat 555 -
Strictly speaking no it is supposedly for one year living expenses which is kind of funny considering they make you keep it locked up at times. But yes that aside not really as emergency medical fund because as above if you used them at certain times your visa extension would be jeopardized or worse. Lastly these days 800k could be gone in less than a week in ICU I had a friend just go thru 600k in 3.5 days due to Thrombectomy. So 800k expat deposit fund is not very reassuring to hospitals anyway
