Not stupid - many of my countrymen are not internationally aware - and have been indoctrinated to think USA is the greatest place on earth. Even smart people. My college roommate became a lawyer - he had a 1 month marriage and went to Haiti for a quickie divorce - since then, he assumed all foreign countries were poverty pits like Haiti and never went anywhere again Though, I think the greatest influence was the movie Midnight Express - - even people who never commit crimes have a fear of foreign prisons and think the best way to avoid that is never to leave...

When you married did you not understand that there would be cultural differences? And that maybe you wuold also have to make some changes?

I lived near a small Thai city - - every year there were new English teachers at my kids school - - they were all doing 'gap years' and were just taking a year off w/none wanting a 2nd year...

Not really - this is part of a long conversation where he has shown that he despises fat people and enjoys trying to shame them... My contention at this juncture is telling him that even if people do not hold his values - there is no reason to treat them in a mean and mocking fashion... Even if people are obese through their own poor habits, they really don't need someone mocking them. Everyone has feelings. I have known some wonderful people who were obese and they suffered from fat shamers... fortunately, they have turned their lives around, but they still carry the scars of people who think they are superior because they don't have that same problem..

maybe if you ate a little more, you might not be so mean and sour... people make different choices. I would much rather be a little over weight, enjoy my meals, be more jolly than be skinny and sour all the time. You know, there can be joys in kindness and joys in giving to help other people... a few extra pounds is not the leprosy you make it out to be..

personally, I am not that overweight nor sensitive to fat shaming... other than in respect to the few people who I know who are [or were] extremely obese. One of the smartest, kindest, most decent people I have ever known, was 450 lbs when I met him. He had a wife and 2 kids when he was early 20s and yet managed to work night shifts at a state run nursing home and put himself through school during the day... He had no $$ and so I bought him a custom made suit for $400 for his first job interview... he has been working as a psychologist at a prison for 25 years now and has lost enough weight to be down to 300 lbs.. He helps prisoners gain self respect. The prison guards hate him for the work he does as they prefer to look at the prisoners as animals. He used to have to go grocery shopping at 3 a.m. to avoid the abuse thrown at him. He is forever scarred by treatment he has received while he just tried to go about his day. It is for him and a couple of others I have known that I fight the openly fat shaming people on the forum. They don't seem to have the mental facilities to understand the depth of their cruelty. They are not 'coaches' trying to motivate - they are just mean spirited people who enjoy taking shots at defenseless and pained individuals... pouring salt in the wounds.

So, finally something you like about fat people? I have an interesting question for you.. would you rather I post it here or message it to you...

Or is that called aging? Are you implying skinny people don't get sick and die? I have seen skinny people who just don't have the immune system to be well... But, I do agree with you, for me, it is 90% diet as well, but what is true for one of us is not true for all... but of course, I would rather be a little overweight and kindly and jolly than be fit and mean...

We started buying farmland around my wife's village - I think we started buying about 2005 when the going rate was 40k baht per rai... the current going rate is now 260k baht per rai - - she has done very well and the bonus is that family members have been farming the land and earning a living...

If you are a window washer, how much does it matter if your client has a good head of hair or is good looking - or would you rather work for someone who pays you very well and makes a wonderful lunch for you when you visit?
