  1. Doesn't look like there are too many of them...
  2. My doctor friend in the USA married a Thai lady who moved to the USA when she was 15... after raising a couple of kids, she went back to school to finish her degree in, I think it was Nuclear Physics. She was a great teacher for me as she was totally knowledgable in both Thai and Western cultures, language and sensibilities. She was amazing. And the only smell I remember in her house was noodle soup. I have a fairly sensitive nose and can't remember ever having a bad or perfume-smelling tech in my house.. Sorry for your bad luck. And the worst smell for me growing up was the locker room stench of Right Guard.
  3. There is a wait because there is a queue... I admit there is a luxury element in going to a dealer, which I have come to like as I know things will be done properly... I have a friend who likes to go to these little shops - they are actually not much less expensive and it goes on for months as things don't get fixed... it ends if fights too. And often after all the visits, much more expensive than the dealer, in the long run... But, this is just my experience - I have owned cars for many years as I started at age 16 and now am 135 years old.
  4. A Toyota dealer will know for sure...
  5. Mae Rim and Chang Puek, the road going into town is always a traffic jam, 2 lanes and one blocked w/people turning... I also never liked the road into town from Hang Dong though many like it... From what I have seen of moo baans, people get tired of living there. There are some reasonable places close to town and more so outside of town. You should figure your priorities first... How important is it to you to be near 'the action' of town I would also recommend renting for a year before buying anything.
  6. mee looper mai = have looper? toht long dai mai = Can try?
  7. ok.. I found the same account but less detailed than Netflix... on YouTube...
  8. that doesn't seem to be true... one person cited was Ian Stephenson... in the documentary, you can gather a whole host of information... but you don't like where the documentary is posted... it is fascinating as you get to see the people not just read the accounts...
  9. I think this is not the right place - I already got guff.. who needs it.
  10. why bother - it is from a Netflix documentary which I found credible... you're welcome, closed minded but welcome.
  11. I will pm you the netflix title when I am back home
  12. Oh my - - what an ordeal they put you through!! Removing glasses and smiling? Then the ultimate task of covering the beard!! Who else could endure! It must be you.
  13. There are some well-documented accounts of children, usually quite young, who have past life memories that prove out to be accurate and link them to having been another person and not a famous person either. I am not a particular believer but have found some of them quite credible - 2-3 of them shown in the tail end of a Netflix doc.
  14. If 'them' is a Thai person, respect will come from your deeds... not your words.
  15. well, at least you made it funny for them.
  16. I never said they wouldn't... but even still, it does not tend to make one interesting or attractive to me... whatever their nationality...
  17. 1. a monk 2. A guy who thinks he is very spiritual why, you think you know them?
  18. You mention opening a 'tiny restaurant' - - how high is the upside? If it is tiny how many customers could you seat at one time? Tiny restaurants would be lucky to have tiny profits - is it unrealistic to have high hopes for a very small venture? good luck but you may be achieving your mark.. maybe you might shoot higher if you want more money.
  19. Well, any thread that begins w/this is not Thai bashing??? So, lets say for example, a farang goes back to his Gf's village - poor farmers, not much formal education, farmers who know how to do necessary things for farms... And they lead a simple life... quite pleasant for what they need to get by happily in their own world... And their daughter returns w/a fellow who cannot read the newspaper or even understand when the news is spoken on the television. He cannot hold the simplest conversation, but he seems to have some money that he spends on beer. The beer part is ok, but he doesn't seem very bright or otherwise have much to offer - he can barely eat the food... And then this farang drinks too much beer and starts acting really stupid... Yes, I have seen this type of behavior. The guy might be 'accomplished' in the West, but is a total moron in the village... should they respect him and where he comes from?
  20. Yeah, the price of pet rocks has gone down too...
  21. I have been told I am a Bodhisatva

  24. Sure the dollar has gone down, but we all have so much more of them... and w/o the bile of outsiders too. Never very classy to knock a country not your own.
