  1. There are some areas in my life where I AM a Cheap Charlie. Smartphones is one of those areas. Why? In this day and age they are somewhat of a necessity - but? I use them as little as possible. For example I wanted to run Audible on my phone, but...Android 5.1 isn't supported. I was able to find a workaround by downloading a APK file from two years ago before Audible no longer supported Android Lollipop. (Caveat - I don't need to be warned about the security issues of APK files). Grrrr - I hate built-in obsolescence. And I keep running into that problem lately when attempting to install apps on my Oppo Older_Than_Dirt Phone running ColorOS over Android 5.1 and which I can not root. Grrrr. So ???? I guess it's time to bite the bullet. But - I want an "unlocked", Cheap Charlie phone. Apple iOS phones are out for all the ฿฿฿฿฿ Cha-Ching ฿฿฿฿฿ ???? Huawei phones are out because of the lack of the availability of apps that I need to use. Oppo phones are out because I want the phone to actually runs Android and not some manufacturers proprietary OS that runs over the top of Android, like Oppo's ColorOS. So I'm looking for suggestions for a dirt-cheap Android smartphone but one that has at least 32GB of onboard storage with the ability to add addition storage of between 64 to 512 GB via SD cards. So let me toss it out there. ???? Suggestion for phones?
  2. You have an option to use Adobe or an online form. Adobe is the best way imho as you just unsign last years PDF, update the amounts, re-sign it, and submit it, and Bob's Your Accountant Uncle.
  3. If banks were not predatory they wouldn't extend usurious loans to people who probably can't pay them back. Essentially banks are guaranteeing a life-time of debt slavery for those whose wants exceeds their needs. Consumer beware.
  4. Ahhh, certain parties declaring that they'll give voters a relatively large sum of money in digital wallets, i.e., implicit (or explicit) vote buying using public funds? Commenting for a friend. ????
  5. I had packages that were "out for delivery" today but no joy.
  6. It's vote buying using public money. If allowed, it shows exactly how democratic elections have devolved to the point where overt corruption is the norm. Da*m sad.
  7. Which means they are catching about 1% of the drunks on the roads.
  8. Who Must File the FBAR? A United States person that has a financial interest in or signature authority over foreign financial accounts must file an FBAR if the aggregate value of the foreign financial accounts exceeds $10,000 at any time during the calendar year. That's pretty much any US citizen who is using the 400K or 800K 'in the bank" option for immigration purposes.
  9. Does anyone know if delivery outfits like Kerry take Songkran off. I've checked Lazada shipping and I have a couple of packages that are on the "last mile" of delivery, but I wonder if I'll get them before April 18? Experiences from past holidays?
  10. I just enjoy 'word-play.' It's fun.
  11. Well, once I had a girl-friend named Joy. And when we got in the bedroom? ????
  12. Planes are "flown" and on the ground they are steered with your feet. Now what do you call that? "Taxiing".
  13. I "ride" motorcycles. "Drive" imho implies a use of a steering wheel as apposed to using body mechanics to steer a bike or motorcycle.
  14. I don't know. But if you had been slugging back pints of brew before you get on your motorcycle and get pulled over, will they arrest you for 'drink driving' or 'drunk driving.' ????
  15. I stay with single vision lens. When I want to read, I take off my glasses. Easy Breezy!
  16. It's that time of year. Make sure to file your FBAR with FinCEN if you have funds in a Thai bank account. From the IRS site: "The FBAR is an annual report, due April 15 following the calendar year reported. You're allowed an automatic extension to October 15 if you fail to meet the FBAR annual due date of April 15. For individuals file here: http://bsaefiling.fincen.treas.gov/NoRegFBARFiler.html
  17. Go to the Thai Revenue Office site. The address for BKK is at the bottom of the page. https://www.rd.go.th/english/6045.html
  18. Driving on Thai roads on a motorcycle is an new experience to even most proficient motorcyclists. They expect the roads to conform to their experiences on Western roads. Then they come here to find there are no rules and drivers do the most moronic things on the road. Hence: The Most Dangerous Roads In The World where 80% of the fatalities are: motorcyclists.
  19. Come to Thailand and act like your on a MotoGP course and then **** happens. I see it all the time, and of course eventually they drop their bikes. Lucky he didn't become a Thai motorcycle fatality statistic.
  20. Exactly how is "Vote For Us And Receive 10,000 THB in a Digital Wallet" anything but illegal electioneering? Where else in the world can you promise to pay the electorate for their votes if they just make sure your party wins. At 70+ years old I know what democracy looks like and it doesn't look like vote buying in any form.
  21. Ahhhh after three years of pandemic - just let people have fun without "No This!" and "No That!" With that said, Mrs Connda and I have been to Big C and Makro to stock up and made a last run to 7-11 yesterday for snacks and we're hunkering down for the next week at home. Everyone else? Have fun and Happy Songkran!
