  1. Perfect fit for "Off The Beaten Path." So Mossad and other foreign offices are using the "psychic" Las Vegas showman, Uri Geller, to promote scary "end-of-the-world-stories" about Iran nuking the world. Hell, it probably will work. The weakest minds out there will buy into to the fiction that will rival a King/Staub storyline as Foreign policy now seems to be based on spoon-bendering apocalyptic fictional "visions" by a know showman who was thoroughly debunked by James Randi in his book The Truth About Uri Geller. If you buy Uri Geller's comments, there is a Bridge Over The River Kwai that's selling for cheap. See real estate agent Alec Guiness and he'll set you up and he'll even throw in 100 whistling Brit POWs to do the gardening.
  2. Thailand plans to up its imports of products then charge retail customers 72% tariffs on the products. Thanks Thailand!
  3. Easier said then done. IF you can get a prescription, then Zenni is definitely a good way to go. Getting an Rx from a Thai optician can be a PITA though. https://www.zennioptical.com/
  4. You don't need to go to a ophthalmologist (eye doctor) in order to get a standard refraction for a pair of reading glasses. However, if the OP is older, and has never had an eye workup by a doctor, it's not a bad idea to get checked for things like glaucoma and retina issues. But if he isn't having any other issues other than problems reading, an ophthalmologist is sorta over-kill and they don't normally do refraction, although some hospitals will. They'll dilate your eyes and check for structural issue. For a pair of glasses he at most needs a optometrist (a person who measures eye refraction and prescribes glasses), and in Thailand optometrists generally work in a partnership with an optician. OP - on oddity about Thailand though. They probably will not give you your refraction and instead will insist on making your glasses. If you want a refraction and then order your glasses online, have it done in the US. Less of a hassle.
  5. No. Any qualified optometrist can do it. You may want to try the type you can buy in any convenience store or Big C first. They may work for you right off the rack. If you go to an optometrist/optician, they'll cost more but they'll be made exactly for your eyes. I've bought them for my wife. The frame and lens package was maybe 1000 THB. Wife's happy. Happy wife, happy life.
  6. Thailand as a LOTRs meme We loves the nice touristies don't we my precioussss...touristies brings the monies to nice Thaisssssss. Nice tourities ❤️ THEY BAD TOURISTIES. BAD BAD BAD. GET OUT!!!! 🔥
  7. I think actually, herein lies the rub. Trump actually said on Fox that he want's to start deporting US citizens. That's IS over the top. If he goes down this path he'll lose his base.
  8. Most Thais I know either want to be whiter than me, or are whiter than me. Even more hysterical, most whites want to lay out in the sun and turn as brown as Thais or even browner. What a crazy world 'eh?
  9. They are Amalek. God says that they can be slaughtered because they aren't human. If God says they need to be exterminated and removed from 'the promise land', I guess that all 'good' people should just do God's bidding. Because if you don't? Well then you are Antisemitic. America and the West are just doing their part to obey God's commands.
  10. Gawd, what I don't need today is snarky newbies. 👆 Now back to the rain. Haven't had to water the yard for three days. I've got my herb seedlings started and looking forward to a wonderful year in the garden.
  11. Another person killed in a crosswalk in the wee hours of the morning. Lessons learned: Assume the crosswalk isn't there, look both ways, look both ways again, keep your head on a swivel as you cross and be prepared to yield to vehicles which can kill you. It Wasn't His Fault!!! 100%. It wasn't his fault and now he's dead. He could still be living if he'd been cautious and not "in the right."
  12. Drunken Foreign man trouble making thug who got in a fight with a Thai man gets bottle smashed over his head... ...from behind by a pathetic coward who was not even in the fight between the two men. (The Thai who smashed him with a bottle from behind isn't a "man," he's a coward). There - fixed it!
  13. Not weak enough. Wake me up when it's 40 to the USD.
  14. Considering you just got here, feel free to catch to next plane to somewhere more exciting. Don't stay, you'll die of boredom. Those of us not chasing p***y and drinking ourselves to death actually like life in the slow lane.
  15. Yeah - that's what we need. More war globally.
  16. Wow. This is the third day in a row we've had afternoon rain where we live. This should help scour out the bad air and give the ground a bit of water.
  17. Anyone who has not had water since the collapse is now dead.
  18. Why is it always so very COLD, during the HOT season, in Thailand? Because the OP has issues with hormone balance?
  19. When a news media outlet aligns with your own bias, you then consider them "unbiased."
  20. Someone getting their afternoon ZZzzzzzz in so they can go forth and kill unwanted critters at night. Very effective.
  21. Personally I'd like to see the stock market down to pre-2018 levels. The stock market doesn't reflect the health of the economy. The market has been artificially inflated for longer then anytime in my lifetime. S&P at about 1800 would be fair value with realistic EPS valuations and PE levels. This current market is an abomination.
