  1. Yeah I think he will do a great job. I like heard from him something his mom would never say " my the gap. "
  2. Not true. Lots of self inflicted disastrous things seen to have happened. ????
  3. Well lucky he can get it after more years Insurance companies won't insure bikes, they won't insure mine there too old.
  4. Recently my 17 year old Airblade was 540 baht for test cost 60, 100 road tax, the rest CTPL ins cost and 40 baht for the test station taking book etc and getting tax and CTPL from DLT office.
  5. Nice hotels down side soi's near lake around 550 was impressed.
  6. The MGA was OK never had mates having trouble with it. The B was an engine that was used by race teams type of car racing because it was a reliable lump by all accounts. My MGB.gt with the 1800 B engine overdrive on 3th and 4th leather seats, sunroof was a trouble free car for the 6 years till sold at a good s/h price, only the wire wheels were a pain keep having to true them up.
  7. Yeah OK and liked my oldie place I stayed at for 350. 200 metres from lake. Had some beers in bar/restaurant overlooking the lake. Nice roads out that way. Will be doing a bike trip again there sometime for sure.
  8. Last city I was at was Phayao, good big motorbike mechanic there the reason. Pretty quiet.
  9. Big bikes same price for test. 60baht. The CTPL cost goes by cc. Like my 900 costs 640 baht.
  10. Yes but you still go into a bike shop and ask no ones going eat you, the only one that can screw you at the moment is the guy on the internet.
  11. Bike shops usually have the DLT paperwork.
  12. Maybe I should say touring the rest of the Thailand. Not cities, I hate cities.
  13. Good stuff, it brings to mind in my 1960 onwards car time that 5 of the most reliable cars I had were GM.
  14. OP get out of the house with a Thai friend and go see for yourself. At a DTL office they have all papers for sell and buy. There are Insurance companies at the DLT offices that will produce the compulsory CTPL policy. A test center you will need if you buy a bike 5 years or older.
  15. Use a Wave with a basket in front, place the 12 volts adaptable rice cooker in the basket and cook going along.
  16. Firstly sad how things are going. Things for me have got better over the years and as usual some have got worse. I see a bigger poor rich divide. I see lots of young people smoking whatever. As said a lot overweight and obesity looks on the rise in kids. Many cars/trucks/bikes/ scooters sold and reprocessed. Pollution everyone already knows about. Never understood 5 shoeshops or shops selling the same stuff in a line in a high street. When I was last a beaches in tourists areas they were discussing sea water wise. I guess all above happens where's there's no constructive education in place. There's many more things I guess but don't bother with it. That said the west and westerners living here can't complain. As for New Thailand OP that's progress and being in my twilight years I still selfishly use Thailand to my advantage and live a comfortable life.
  17. The question could be correctly answered by telephoning the OP's local govt hospital or private which ever he wants to use.
  18. Yeah don't understand peoples comments like that about Chinese car manufacturers they use to say the same about Japanese cars.
  19. Yes and no need 'L' plates or do a test. You can ride a 125cc after doing a CBT using your full UK DL.
  20. Got my 2 Thai licences car and motorcycle just producing a UK full DL our local DLT doesn't require IDP for issuing Thai DL's as all the details of what you are licensed for are in English. I heard some DLT's still insist on producing IDP with UK DL. Same with police in some places if you use your home DL while on hols.
  21. UK has different rules for different ages in vehicle driving licencing it's quite complex these days. In UK my son on his 16th birthday did the composory CBT test on the 50cc bike he was only allowed to ride. After 1 year could ride a 125 and was required to to take a a bike test within the 2 year period of riding a 125cc. After passing test he could have restricted 650 forget how long for. His first unrestricted the R6 then bought a full power Suzuki GSXR750. Went to 1000 R1 and bought a new R1 when they brought out the lastest model.
