  1. So it's not an immigration requirement? I wonder why the airline needs it then.
  2. But now, my friend is back to consternation what to do again. He was planning on doing the 60 day tourist until he found the requirements overwhelming. (source of income, where staying, insurance, etc.) Now, thinking the 30 day exempt. Both needing a return ticket (England). For those who have used OA to enter for retirement, is the cost of insurance less than the cost of return ticket? Is it "easy" to convert to Non-O for annual extensions?
  3. I have been using time deposit for several years now - just letting it roll over each year. Other than interest there are no transactions - which immigration grumbled about at first but now seem to accept. What the bank letter "proves" is an example of Thai logic.
  4. Udon Thani requires letter (B100) from the bank verifying balance over the time period on day of application. Even for time deposits.
  5. OK, my friend finally confessed that he misunderstood his agent. He was still arguing about the OA even after I showed him several posts to the contrary. Oh, he's a Brit so that might explain. ????
  6. I don't know the agents name. And, I don't know why you continue to say that I am confused when I am just reporting what I was told. My OP was due to the fact that rules seem to be changing daily and I was trying to get things straight for my friend.
  7. Hmm. That should not be an issue. I have had issues with ants taking out the relay on old style AC when not in use for a few months.
  8. Ditto on Daikin and Mitsu. Although, a few years ago, I read several good reviews on the LG "double inverter". LG quality has been impressive lately.
  9. My friend told me his understanding of what the agent told him was necessary after entering on a tourist visa. My friend didn't want to buy the extended insurance the OA requires and I couldn't understand why the agent would want to do the OA after he arrives. Thus my OP. I also know the "rules" seem to change a lot. My friend will question the agent when he arrives next month. Thank you all for the input.
  10. Whatever you do, Koi ponds need circulation/aeration or they die.
  11. He will be going thru an agent who says he needs NON-OA. I am wondering if the rules have changed for that and if anyone knows for sure? Again, he will be arriving on tourist visa. I assume the agent knows what he's doing. Just wanted to ask.
  12. What is the difference these days? I've been on Non-O forever but my friend says he will need Non-OA after he comes to Thailand on a tourist visa and gets converted for annual extensions. He wiil be going thru an agent for this.
  13. An electric fire is almost always due to a loose connection which has caused arcing and not likely to trip RCD or MCB.
  14. At night, I put on "Dry", close the shutters and door and it maintains at 26o. ????
  15. For me, the AC is set to 25o. Actually, the AC is in our 20m2 bedroom. I open the door and shutters to let it spill out to the 35m2 living area which, with ceiling fans, will maintain at 26o. When it is 40o outside, it will run up to 28o but still feels cool.
  16. I adequately cool 55m2 well insulated rooms with 11k BTU inverter (Daikin). Just sayin.
  17. It wouldn't matter. A qualified spark would know but otherwise, it wouldn't make any sense to him.
  18. It might help to post some photos of the ridge construction and roof areas where you think have leaks. CPAC can be a good roof if done correctly and very leaky if not.
  19. We had a snake looking a lot like that slither across our patio and park in front of the aquarium. My wife was screaming at me to kill it and just when I went to grab she lifts up and fanned her hood at me. Looking at pictures it seems to have been a black cobra and common in Thailand. BTW: my wife beat the cr@p out of it and tossed in the vacant lot next door. Never did get a photo.
  20. What is strange is that the unit should have come with more heavy duty plug than a Schuko if it is really capable of drawing 50A. You really should get a clamp ammeter and test the draw when you have it in operation. Clamp on only the L and maybe get some help to read it while you weld.
  21. Being able to clamp down on the table edges for a right angle, etc. makes a huge difference.
  22. You need at least another 25kg to be a proper welder. ????
  23. I have a piece of spare steel laying on my table that I will use to tap the electrode on a few times until it gets a spark.
