Statins: A Vital Consideration for Those Over 70, Study Suggests
BigStar replied to Social Media's topic in World News
But since you won't have health checkups and don't know your numbers, of course you can't see the end looming, beginning perhaps w/ a nice debilitating stroke, so that you may postpone it. 'Course, now, when Fate, in the form of a hit-and-run, rang your number, you fought like hell to resist the call.🙂 WOT? -
Statins: A Vital Consideration for Those Over 70, Study Suggests
BigStar replied to Social Media's topic in World News
Jim Fixx thought that. Famously wrong. Weight per se isn't the issue here. However, some people with obesity are in good metabolic health. Conversely, some people who appear to have lean bodies are at risk of cardiometabolic diseases, such as heart attack, stroke, and diabetes. --Skinny fat: Definition, causes, and lifestyle modifications -

Any one doing the OMAD diet ( One Meal a Day )
BigStar replied to MrScratch's topic in I'm Too Fat Forum
OMAD of sugary high carb junk. Sugary drinks all day. -
I'm just ordinary low carb, not keto. Keto's definitely extreme and like work to do correctly. I wouldn't see the point unless it would seem optimal to resolve a particular problem. Should be put in context, true.

And olive oil is low in PUFA, as the study recognizes: Several studies have indicated that MUFA derived from plant (e.g., olive oil) or animal (e.g., lard) sources is not equivalent to PUFA with respect to the effect on CVD [24,25,26]. The emphasis is more on coconut oil vs seed oils high in PUFA. Though PUFA is touted as beneficial by the seed oil industry itself, the low carb/keto/whole foods advocates will disagree. The correlation between the rise of the obesity epidemic and seed oil consumption is quite striking, but explainable in the context of total dietary changeover towards more processed food and carbs. The study is consonant with the general rehabilitation of saturated fats in non-Thai studies. HDL may increase w/ a corresponding rise in LDL, for multiple reasons, including a lower carb diet w/ saturated fats. LDL may as well, but low carb says that's not significant if low carb is adhered to, the weight's in a healthy range, and the TG/LDL ratio's good. It helps that TG is usually lower. The increased LDL, if any, seems to be of less-harmful larger particles.

Seen some notably poor results from those experiments-of-one. Some numbers aren't detected until they've already done internal damage you really didn't need. Keeping all the visible metrics w/i healthy range is all to the good, however. Doing that, I haven't needed any meds so far, at age 75.

Can imagine why anyone wouldn't, unless skint. Only way to fly. Gimme my daily veggies with Bertolli. Love them polyphenols. For what is the question. Dr. Berg gets some love here. He happened to write about the differences last month: Coconut Oil vs Olive Oil Which is Better.

I wouldn't base my "bottom line" on one study and one hack's interpretation of it. But that's just me, of course. One's cholesterol number can be improved in a number of ways. It may also not be as big a worry as you might think. Worry more about that TG/HDL ratio. https://www.amazon.com/Clot-Thickens-enduring-mystery-disease-ebook/dp/B09KV553GY https://www.amazon.com/Clot-Thickens-enduring-mystery-disease-ebook/dp/B09KV553GY

Misses the point. The objection against seed oils per se (as opposed to their use in junk food etc.) isn't that they contribute to weight gain/obesity more or less than other oils. It's mostly about the linoleic acid, about which you can google more. For example, I won't bother to get into this further, as it's a religious issue with many of our experts going by outdated or biased info (funded by the seed oil/food processing industries and echoed throughout the 'net) and of course supported by strong personal anecdotal evidence. Or practice. Yet common sense alone suggests "natural" oils used over the centuries might well be better than modern processed oils, just as whole foods are likely better for you than processed.

Frenchman arrested in Krabi for eight-year visa overstay
BigStar replied to snoop1130's topic in Krabi News
Immigration is paid to occupy itself with immigration. Why should overstay be permitted? How's that working for the USA and UK? Seeing headlines about arrests and investigations all the time. You read the Thai papers or watch Thai news? -
Trump Backs Elon Musk's Plan to Slash Government Spending
BigStar replied to Social Media's topic in World News
Good plan in contrast to Harris' hire everyone, esp. illegal aliens. Should be jobs opening up in the private sector under Trump, but a lot of those elite, highly intelligent, virtuous gov't hacks working in their useless jobs are unemployable, unaccustomed to real work. Can devote more time to posting anti-Trump rants, I suppose. -
LOL. No, of course, your only "approved" leftist sources, CNN, MSNBC, The View, aren't going to contradict the party line. Any truth you might learn has to come from other sources, obviously. By reading alternative sources, you could learn to reason for yourself instead of let the ladies of The View tell you what to think. Remember, Jews for Harris are like chickens for KFC. 🙂

But First Republic Bank, Silicon Valley Bank, and Signature Bank failed during the Biden economy. Big. So be careful; you've just lost your money betting on Biden: Lichtman's 13 Keys Predict Trump, Not Harris Whoops! Better put that in Trump's bank, Axos. Sad liberals, following their party line religiously.

Seems, then, it's your own hypocrisy and identity politics know no bounds. What happened to your "super concern?" Ever notice how when you pop one of a liberal's balloons, he ignores that fact that it was popped but just blows up another. Some time later, he'll just repeat the same nonsense as if it wasn't already refuted.
