  1. You can do that by mail? Good to have here for future reference. As said above, combine to one step. Translator deals with MFA for you (not ALL translators; check). If you have your name translated into Thai on other official docs (that you're going to show the Amphur), tell the translator to use that translation. Otherwise, you'll have to get the other translation changed.
  2. And it can be said that a greater proportion of that greater proportion, in proportion to their own numbers, are farang. When out on the bike I try to avoid them. I feel safer with the Thais.
  3. Oh, Brits have done the same, as you'd expect. Friends, even.🙂 WOT? When Kevin was punched, he lost balance and hit his head on a post, which supposedly caused the wound and instead of helping the friend ran off. --Two Brits Fight Over Thai Bird
  4. Good, thorough info above. The details of initially setting up everything w/ SSO were all handled by my company. Though I MAY remember giving to my bank an automated deduction authorization form, I also may not remember it, as it's been so many years ago. 🙂 I also get an SMS every month around the 22 that says in Thai: "Thank you for paying the Social Security payment for installment." I don't remember requesting such a notice, but it's welcome nonetheless. I do make sure to keep adequate funds in my account at all times.
  5. True. Don't watch any later movies. Dawn Of Planet Of The Apes (2014) was supposedly pretty good and the last worth a look. I did download it, haven't got to it yet. I just finished Beyond the Sea (2004) and liked it a lot. Kevin Spacey did an incredible job, almost won an Oscar. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0363473/ It's a bit idealized for movie purposes, less tragic of a memorable story than it really was, so one should read at least the Wikis on Bobby Darin and Sandra Dee.
  6. Been years (5?) since Jomtien did that. But if they did, I've got all the OTHER pre-filled forms. I'm not handwriting any than I absolutely must.
  7. Oh, but here's a pic I took of him in Banglamung Hsp a week before he died, with his wife taking care and comforting him. She'd moved him from the common ward to a private room. Very sad. Despite his failure to take of himself in earlier years (not atypically for an expat), she prolonged his life for perhaps 5 years, and for that he was very, very grateful; besides all the other wifely duties, after two "rides" in succession relieved him of some assets. 'Course, he could have made it 10 more if he'd wised up sooner. He WAS one of the naturally strongest men I've ever met. And here's the much younger (late 50s) Brit from Sussex being dumped (by neighbors) in Pattaya Bay about a year after his "ride" had abandoned him, ailing: I'll let the members decide who's the idiot spouting BS here. Disneyland🤣. DUH. OH--old man, I'm not old yet, hee hee. I can't post the pic of my much younger friend w/ premature AD. He might be recognized. Good thing his wife is handling his finances and taking care of him. She's good. You never know, you see. The lesson, for your own best interests, is to start the quest for Miss Right early on. The older you are, the more difficult it is. Takes years, and a few stumbles, to run through the candidates and verify there's one you can trust and settle down with for the long haul--and be happy. Guess the point's been made sufficiently. As I said earlier, the less you know, the faster you'll be outta the way and taking up much less space.🙂
  8. WOT??? And 88% independents? This is SO upsetting to TAT: ANF. We ALL know Chinese all come in on zero-baht tours, spend nothing, and spend the nothing in Chinese businesses only, so that Thais get nothing. That's been a KNOWN TRUTH since forever. TAT tells porkies!!!
  9. So many Brit landed gentry here. Have you participated in one of our ANF Poster "Who's the wealthiest of them all?" contests yet?
  10. Thai food? Perhaps Thai food isn't the ONLY reason?
  11. Utter nonsense born of ignorance. Here's a resistance bands only trainer to debunk:
  12. I don't see how your post proves that EVERY office isn't having people sign these or that it ISN'T a counry-wide policy. Certainly the Jomtien office does. Could well be true, but who cares? If an office doesn't, it doesn't. If not, that means--you don't have fill them out/sign them. Each extension applicant will find out wherever he applies. If the first time, and the office requires them, he can download the .pdfs and fill them out in advance.
  13. 100% true stories. I did write a long blog post once about the Brit whose "ride" deserted him for a healthy German. Great character from Sussex. Made for a good, long, funny but sad story that readers appreciated. You remind me of him a bit with your Pollyanna views. Here's more! The guy whose wife took good care of him through his long, suffering illness, a very shrewd and cynical German, had also tried your naive solution. He'd split with his wife to go for a couple of "rides." They certainly took him for a ride, too. Sneaking out at night, not around when needed, asking for money, always bored and quite lazy. Both stole all they could and ran away. So then he had the good sense to leave Disneyland and go back to his old wife and her family, good people. He died with her at his bedside in Banglamung Hospital, about a year ago.
  14. Good, though in fact you read all of it. The less you know, the sooner you'll be outta the way with your imaginary "rides." Your post was a good laugh, however. Inability to think things through is certainly an advantage. The "rides" will be especially appreciative. Go find that ride, man. LOL.
  15. So naive, you just a sheep ready for fleecing.🤣 They're gonna grab all they can (perhaps with your unknowing consent) and run, probably with that Thai boyfriend or husband. I'm personally acquainted with three old farangs who've had, or are having, critical, trustworthy care from their Thai wives, one of them right through to a long, suffering death. Another has premature AD, just because. Didn't see that coming, did you? One thing they're not doing is dying prematurely, as happened to a guy following your shrewd advice, late 50s, alone in a filthy bed. His "ride" ran off and left him for a healthy German. Neighbors took pity on him and arranged a cheap cremation and ashes dump. Same with another, mid-60s, in Vietnam recently. Knew a lot of rides to spend money on, but w/o stability of a wife/family to help him stay healthy, he basically drank himself to death (while staying in denial, went on "health binges" once a month) alone in his rented room. No "ride" could stand him long. Body decomposed for more than a week, smell forced the apt manager to break in and find his corpse on the floor, dried blood out of its nose. No friends or relatives or "rides" would admit knowing him. Police took his body, waited for the Embassy to find next of kin (unsuccessfully), then disposed of the remains, nobody knows where. Talk's cheap on the 'net. Go find that ride, man. LOL.
  16. Complex Question fallacy typical of leftists. Trump doesn't have growing dementia in the sense of disease that Biden obviously has. He's suggested both he and Biden have the tests. Biden refused the other day with a ridiculous, slightly incoherent excuse. Says Forbes: Jackson [Trump's White House physician] told reporters in 2018 Trump received a perfect score on a cognitive test and there was “no reason whatsoever to think the president has any issues whatsoever with his thought processes.” Trump claims to have had a more recent test, as seems likely, given his confidence. It's not a terribly difficult test, so Biden should show that he can do well on it, too. Why not? Duh. Anyway, calling Trump demented will just fall flat with the libtard base. That's just a given, Trump was born demented, and far too bland. They want bloody red meat. They want that feminine, scorched-earth hate, as we see here on the forum. Biden just said to put Trump in the bullseye. Can you imagine if Trump had said that? OMG. Here ya go from the satire site Babylon Bee. But there's a lot of truth in it: Dems Announce Comprehensive Plan To Win Election By Calling Trump 'Hitler' Again That'll work.
  17. Yup. Even as they attempt to force him out, Democrats are still praising the sterling character of the president, especially in contrast to Trump. But that’s always been a lie. --The refrain that Biden is a ‘good’ or ‘decent’ man falls flat when you consider the president’s decades of recorded lies and slander.
  18. It's back to Square One. If only this injured Brit had posted here FIRST, before he'd tried crossing a road in Thailand. You may continue your studies from there, and stay alive.
  19. Lame, as inevitable. I'm great, be glad to share numbers with you. Winter is coming, though, as you'll see. So much for your Disneyland.🤣
  20. Now think of going to Disneyland after your stroke when you're half-paralyzed, your balance shot, you no longer see well, and your memory and problem-solving ability shot. Plus, your diaper needs changing.
  21. More. Evidently, Brits have never learned the critical Step 3 for safe crossing. Perhaps they relied too heavily on the lollipop ladies when growing up, who didn't teach them properly. Obviously, one was needed right here in front of this bar. OK, watch and learn.
