  1. No they don't, the fight is until one shies away. The local cock fights are without the metal spurs, and bull fights here are bull against bull, they butt and lock horns, there are no matadors. Fish fights I've not witnessed. .
  2. I thought Sands disappeared in the San Gabriel Mountains, USA, not Ra Mountain, Pha-Ngan National Park, Thailand. .
  3. **Removed post edited out** As I said, she did eventually appear in the Old Bailey, via a video link. There's supposed to have been some closing of loopholes relating to family members claiming diplomatic immunity, though details have not been made public. I somehow doubt the Thai lady in question will receive much leniency in this US case. .
  4. That's why I live here and not Vietnam, they get hit with Typhoons too.
  5. The weather is certainly the oddest I've known it in the near twenty years I've been here. They're forecasting high winds and rain for next week, strong winds are already here. https://www.hatyaitoday.com/strong-winds-5/ Five day Meteoblue forecast is telling me the same.
  6. If that's your personal experience of the A53 fine, but it's not mine. I've had mine for 8 months now, it updated to Android 13 in December. The system runs well, I don't find it slow, that said I'm not using it for any heavy duty gaming, just normal stuff; phone, camera, music, news apps, messaging apps, movies, time killing games that sort of thing. The 5 years of updates means the phone will last me a good while, I don't like changing phones unless I have to. My previous phone was a Huawei P9 which lasted me over 5 years, and before that a Samsung Galaxy S2 which also lasted 5 years.
  7. Banana IT They are a large chain with both an online and bricks & mortar presence, they're everywhere in Thailand, you can find outlets in Central Festival. I bought mine from their shop rather than the online store, I wanted to physically feel and see the phone before I bought, wasn't sure if I wanted the A53, A73 or S21FE - I opted for the A53 because I thought it offered best value for money.
  8. I have a HSBC Everyday Global Debit Card with my HSBC Singapore account, though by global it means just 10 currencies namely; Australian Dollar, Canadian Dollar, Euro, Hong Kong Dollar, Japanese Yen, New Zealand Dollar, Sterling Pound, Swiss Franc and US Dollar. By comparison Wise gives you the option of holding 50 different currencies to use with the Wise Debit Card.
  9. I bought the Samsung Galaxy A53 5G with 8Gb/128Gb memory and storage from Banana IT last year for ฿13,999 - I'm more than happy with it. I see it's now discounted to ฿12,999 https://www.bnn.in.th/en/p/smartphone-and-accessories/smartphone/samsung-smartphone/samsung-smartphone-galaxy-a53-8128gb-awesome-blue-5g-8806094067163_zj55qv
  10. Did you try bleach and shining a torch up your <deleted> as well?
  11. Unusually my Wise transfer from Singapore to Kasikorn took all of 55 minutes this morning, no drama but out of character, Wise transfers, in my experience, are near instantaneous. Monthly living expenses before anyone asks.
  12. An immigrant is happy to be accepted somewhere, an expat can afford to live anywhere (OK maybe not anywhere exactly, but you get the general idea). .
  13. There'll still be flooding at Thung Song next monsoon.
  14. Hattoyai Izakaya (Phone: 0971935282) (7.00626, 100.486915) On Krajang Uthit Road, a single storey Japanese style wooden building with a courtyard. Options for indoor, outdoor seating or private rooms. We opted to sit inside where there was live music. It was a Sunday evening so not very busy and quite quiet, music was Thai popular with singer accompanied by acoustic guitar, so pleasantly unobtrusive. Menu is fairly extensive, with options for cook at the table style or small plates, notable no pork in this restaurant. Standard Izakaya fare plus some spicy Thai small plate options like papaya salads. We had a selection of sashimi, beef & chicken Teriyaki and some gyoza. Service was attentive and prompt, food was good, we thought generally better than other Izakaya we've tried. The weird purple lighting isn't great as it makes it hard to read the menu or see your food. Plenty of drink options, selection of Japanese beers with Asahi on draft, Hoegardens and Thai beers also available, plus Sake and Japanese whisky. Overall a pleasant evening, cost for 3 people was under Bht2,000.
