Long Beach on west coast of Vancouver Island is better by a long shot. Beautiful white sand sand as far as the eye can see. Can pick oysters at low tide fresh on the beach. Few people. Great accommodations world class.

Some analysts see trade tensions as beneficial for the U.S. dollar as the economy is better placed to handle protectionism than emerging markets, and as tariffs may narrow the U.S. trade deficit.
“Trade tensions are very much dollar positive so I suspect that’s contributing to the dollar gains today,” said Erik Nelson, a currency strategist at Wells Fargo in New York.
When the Us dollar is strong our Canadian dollar follows. Today is over 25 baht has not been there for a while. Go Don Go.
Ratchet up the pressure.

I lived on Vancouver Island for 20 years. In that time I know of 2 boats that sank 1 was a j24 being a j24 that can be expected huh the other was a small power boat. If you wish to say a catamaran that flipped over was a sinking then 3 boats in 20 years sank.
In Thailand it seems to be a daily occurance.. Some days 2 boats.. Can anyone dispute that should make Thailand the hub of boats sinking.

I watched the video again. The more I watch it the crazier it gets.
Looks like the young boy was the last person rescued by that boat. As soon as the boy is on board they cast off. you can see them bringing in the fenders as they motor away.

By judging out of this very beautiful picture. I just must be a pure genius that established and layed the gound for the electric plant in direct connection to the river. Hat of for intelligence beyond imagination.
I agree.
I look at the picture and see what I think is all the electric power down low but to the bottom right there are buildings way up on cement posts. I quess when it floods the boss's will want a place to sit when they view the damage.

I do not believe a word of this I feel you fabricate as you go
The danger is not imminent the boat takes the water for sure but is still far from sinking,
moreover, the one who was carrying the child is probably a sailor because it comes out of the boat again so we are not already at "People scramble for their life" I have participated in many rescues at sea quite comparable but the landlubber always know better!
"But I know the Thai bashing it's fashionable for some
Pfff "
You have to be blind not to see that for some posters it's a daily sport on TV.
You love to arque huh
You do fabricate you have no idea what went on a board the boat.Just make it up to justify your ignorance.
You want to creat senarios. How about she held his hand and lead him to safety. Or she stayed with him well the sailor carried him.
No she left him on his own. Took care of her self first not much love there.
I do not know how you get Thai bashing out of what I posted But I quess when all else fails use that to feel better about yourself.
Oh by the way I am not a landlubber. Racied sailboats for years done race community races up to the level of CISM. Been demasted in heavy weather. Sailed up to Bering Strait and back, sailed around Vancouver Island you want more I will keep going but wish to stay humble.

Stop your delirium, it was a few seconds and going from one edge of a boat to another with a child in the arms for a woman is dangerous, with the risk of both falling overboard, certainly, the man who carries the child did offer her to do it.
Besides, it is a sailor who speaks I participated in rescues as a volunteer of the SNSM and I would not have let a woman carry her child even against her will I would have done it myself.
But I know the Thai bashing it's fashionable for some
Pfffffff
Ya right.

I do not Thai bash try again.
All of a sudden letters went small strange huh

I do not see a mothers love there. She abandoned her child on a sinking boat. Saved herself them ask others to get her child. I feel a real loving mother would have taken the child with her to the safety of the rescue boat.
Leaving her child to the care of others well taking care of herself is not motherly love sorry.
Maybe I should rephrase that. Leaving the life of her child to others, after abandoning.

I do not wish to change this thread . But I see lots of guys here have good knowledge about these kind of things .Maybe some one can answer a question I have and explain how to fix.
My hotwater heater in the shower was well grounded, with a thick copper wire. Some how this got cut on the outside wall. I do not know how to fix other than replace.
You guys are way more knowledgeable than me I have no idea what a RCBO or YMMV is or how to put it in. But I really like the idea Do you think I could get something like that installed by a shop I buy it at?
By the way what is RCBO and YMMV?

You just have to love how these Russians react.
Very little panic panic no running for the door. Just look at the body and scratch their heads.
These guys are as hard as nails.
I also like the way he was done in not fancy just get the job done style.
It is like "You live by the gun you die by gun" full acceptance.

The entire world came together in a spirit of unity focused solely on getting those boys out alive, without concern for nationality etc.
You are so right about the whole world. My family back in Canada each and every household woulld wake up and go look at the news to see what was happening every day this event was unfolding.
16 minutes ago, Sheryl said:It is small minded in the extreme to view this as a "Thai vs foreigner" issue. Thankfully the Thais did not take that view. If they had, the 13 would have died. Equally fortunate, the foreigners involved were nto focused on ego or one-up-man-ship. If they had been, they would not have succeeded. Some TV posters would do well to take a lesson from them
Totally agree on that too. Maybe some one will he does not listen to me.

You are right it was team effort that should never be denied. My question was If the Thai's were left to do it themselves do you think they could have done it? I think you know the answer but do not want to state it.
These guys saw a need and came forward and did what others could not. So to take that away from them is pretty small in my eyes.

The seals were heroes they did more then support the foreign divers they went in before the foreign divers. They played a roll just as big and thankfully ego was not important otherwise the foreign divers would not have been allowed to help. They knew the foreign divers were better trained so they used them, that is what you do work with the best tools available.
If you think the divers were heroes.. your right.. but without the Thai support of pumping the water away even your hero divers would not have succeeded. Does that mean they only supported the pump people ?. Just accept it was a team effort instead of the misplaced pride that people get for the deeds of others. (cheering the foreigners just because they were foreigners)
Your post leaves me with a nagging question that I cannot answer may be you can.
I f the foreigners would not have helped would the Thai's been able to save the boys? If they were left to their own resources would have they succeeded
Think about it.

In the end they will just up the prices... this way they can keep their profit and better living conditions. It will be the normal people that pay and for some fish will no longer be affordable. Not saying the new rules are bad.. just giving a prediction without judging. They will never accept less profit.. almost no company would.. they would all pass it on. (unless of course they can't with exports) but the local market they are the only player in town.
This post make you seem to be more interested in the cost of fish for the consumer than rights and health or life and safety of others.
You try to give an arquement for slavery gives us good insight to your values.

I really admire Mr Mallsion and Mr Jewell for their honesty and putting reality into this. I cannot imagine the anquish they went through well removing the young boys. To be in the situations they were and doing what they did is what makes men proud to be men.. and know there are men like that among us. They are real heroes in my eyes.

The auto industry should just stop sending cars to America that would show them huh. Then the Americans would have to buy domestic. So sad.
But of course that will not happen . Drugs and other illegal things have to be smuggled and why shut the door on the easiest way to get them into America. Other countries are waking up to Trump and now know play ball or the easy access to abuse the system is going to be closed.

It's quite accurate. Life jackets shouldn't be worn unless you are outside on the open deck.
You ever been on a boat? It is not like being at your condo just take the lifejacket off at the door.. You put it on and wear it when need arises to do other wise is dangerous and life threatening. Also try putting on a life jacket when the sea is throwing you all over the boat. Hard enough just to orientate where you can stand. No concept of the real sea conditions and life on a boat huh.

Regarding the boat tragedy, wasn't one of the problems being that the lifejackets actually trapped people in the boat?
I think that was more propaganda to help justify and place blame as the Thai's do so well.
