  1. placing the heavy cooking part of the kitchen outside will always work in Thailand ???? you will have to think about details such as smoke/exhaust management, easy placement of cooking supplies, roofing, etc. regarding the drain in the floor, yes, Thai bathrooms usually come with that drain in the floor, but Western bathrooms usually don't. I mean building the whole bathroom floor with a very slight slope that guides the water towards the drain. The bathroom floor could also be 1 cm lower than other floors. The Japanese generally make very clever bathrooms.
  2. vertical 3. ...
  3. it filly up really quickly if storing series in 1080p and x264
  4. completely unrealistic. Taiwan has been fortifying, training and buying weapons for over 70 years to defend against a Chinese invasion. To prove my point, I suggest you use google satellite view and check out Taiwanese islands and coastline and look for bunkers. Some of these islands seem to consist only of fortifications. I'm pretty sure Taiwan itself is akin to Swiss cheese with underground bases everywhere and numerous coastline defenses. Just have a look please. Launching an invasion on a prepared Taiwan that is equipped with modern weapons is pretty much suicide, especially if Taiwan is supported by the USA.
  5. "upgrade the computer" but all we know about OP's requirements is: - torrenting 24/7 - light video editing - multitasking unless OP wants to expand his video editing, I'd say any reasonably solid midrange machine from 5-6 years ago should do the trick. speed of HDD, etc. is all secondary as long as OP does not have fiber internet. another thing is OP doesn't tell or doesn't know what the specific problem with his machine is - might just need new thermal paste. OP's box looks noisy though.
  6. well, anyone generating clicks from the story has an interest too.
  7. thank you Sheryl
  8. I need to see a doctor for a differential diagnosis of a possible carcinoma on the penis glans. So I would like to ask here for recommendations of a particular doctor or team/hospital with good reputation in that field of expertise, along with their lab. English speaking doctor only of course. Also, if I suppose the visit will include : - examination - anamnesis - biopsy (one or more) - lab analysis is a rough estimation of costs possible ?
  9. hmm... why do posters get all excited about an election for less than half of parliament seats ?
  10. who knows how many of the tsunami warning buoys are currently operational ?
  11. I asked Chat GPT already: There was no text after 3. Advising Robinson department store is a bit strange, especially as there is no Lo-Bin-San store in Pattaya AFAIK (I know one in SiRacha). I hope you can do better than chat GPT ????
  12. what I read earlier about the legalization project is that the government wants to issue "licences". the problem with licences is that officials just sit on them and it can take years to issue one, and in the meanwhile, the business is racketeered by the BiB. they should do away with the licencing and simplify the "rules"
  13. After watching a number of documentaries about the US legal system, I have the impression that it's built around a horrible system - it seems as if cops' and prosecutors' priority isn't to find out the truth but to do everything within their powers to distort witness statements and evidence to be able to charge someone with a crime and use every dirty trick to extort witness statements in exchange for leniency, whereas the veracity of said statements is secondary. I don't say all cases are like that, but in some cases I have seen in the documentaries, I am of the opinion that some cops and prosecutors should have been sent to jail themselves. That being said, I am in favour of the death penalty, but only in clear-cut cases fulfilling the following criteria: - culpability is proven beyond any doubt by multiple surveillance and physical evidence (in case of DNA, there must be enough DNA samples to verify the initial test) - sentence is pronounced by a professional and experienced panel of judges (no jury) and confirmed by the ministry of justice after a review of evidence
  14. yes, I would advise you to do exactly that and buy an external drive to save backups on. maybe use a program that makes incremental disk images. don't know how much of the internal 1TB you will use, but maybe buy 2TB external. just don't forget to do the backups. people generally say SSD don't fail, but my experience is another completely.
  15. like Steven He would say, Putin is just a failure causing lots of emotional damage
  16. I have 2 quick inputs: - no serious cooking can be done in an open kitchen inside the house (major mistake in modern Western house and condo designs). put the main kitchen/cooking area outside the house, backside, as most Thais do, and inside maybe fridge, microwave and a sink for the fancy things. - bathrooms: I'd suggest placing a drain in the floor.
  17. 18. Currently running on W10. I will try to upgrade to W11 when I will have a specific need to do so. I will have to use a hack to do it, because Microsoft doesn't want to upgrade my computer to W11, although my computer fulfills the formal requirements. I have a laptop running a i7-4790k which checks all the boxes: - TPM 2.0 - DirectX 12 with WDDM 2.7 - UEFI Secure Boot yet MS says my device is incompatible.
  19. yes, but ... as I see it, there are some issues with insurance policies, especially travel insurance the first issue is unclear or "strange" clauses. for example about motorcycle accidents, on some policies there are clauses that say passengers of motorcycles need themselves to hold a MC license to be covered. in general conditions of coverage are unclear for drunk passengers, helmet regulations, etc. the second problem is the relationship between formal coverage and practical pay out. insurance companies often pay out even when outside of their formal coverage policy. this is most often the case with reputable companies with good image whose policy premiums are expensive, while other companies would use strange clauses as the above to decline coverage. the expensive policies are not usually those offered on discount travel sites, and even then people often don't subscribe the travel insurance. the other problem with this is of course the lack of information about insurance coverage. I tried to find out for myself, but was unsuccessful. Short of talking to the claims manager, I don't think it's possible to find out what these "unclear" policies cover and what not.
  20. entitled or not, low-priced flights are well within the means of unemployed people. there is a huge problem with the cost of living in Western welfare countries, so the price of air travel is relatively low compared to social benefits people can claim.
  21. go to a private inspection place near your home, ask them for info and let them handle the paperwork. these places usually have commercial signage of a yellow cog on dark blue background
  22. would zoho be an option? "Life Time Free Basic Plan" https://www.zoho.com/meeting/pricing.html?src=hdd
  23. I'm a web developer and computer user with a security mindset, I would say my laptop is pretty safe if combined with 2-factor authentication. My laptop is behind NAT, 2 firewalls and VPN - I'm not using everything at the same time though. Not using any ISP-provided router either. The most important thing about e-banking is to not run both authentication methods on the same device, for example the phone. But I get that it can be difficult for normal users to secure their laptop. For average users who routinely install software on their computer, I would go as far as to advise buying a separate device that will exclusively be used for activities that require high security. And don't let anyone use that device.
  24. Nexus Android trojan targets 450 financial apps and takes over bank accounts https://www.tomsguide.com/news/new-nexus-trojan-targets-450-financial-apps-and-is-taking-over-bank-accounts Some time back I was mocked on this forum because I said I don't use mobile banking apps on my phone because I think it's unsafe... Here we are.
