  1. Thai immigration, she went in to ask them as she has not traveled since she was very young and wanted to be sure to avoid issues. Like you I know people who do this without issue and was shocked that she is currently waiting on a Norwegian visa for her thai passport, that she will not even be using when she gets to Norway..

They said they will demand back payments in tax from her as a person living with dual nationality if she does it without a norway visa..

  2. Hello,

If you have a Thai passport (and thai ID / citizenship) and a European Passport and you live in Thailand, if you want to go to a European country, my understanding was that:

    1) You use your Thai passport to leave Thailand,

    2) You use your EU passport to enter the EU

You don't need any special permission to leave Thailand if you have a Thai passport, thai citizenship and ID.

However, someone in this exact situation has just been told that in order to visit Norway, if they plans to use their EU passport (it's swiss) then she must get a visa from the country she is going to in her Thai passport, in order to be allowed to leave Thailand (or perhaps, in order to be allowed to RETURN to Thailand on her Thai passport) suggesting that they will have a problem without a visa, even though they wouldnt be using the Thai passport for the travel except leaving/re-entering Thailand.

Could someone who knows the score please help and confirm what they mean- is Immigration trying to pull a fast one? They said that without this, they will demand that tax is paid retrospectively as Thai people must choose one nationality and if they want to use both, they have to pay some sort of "tax" ?

  3. One might react to the idea of something in a way that one does not necessarily condone or would normally act. The reaction to a man kissing a man repulses some who would otherwise be wholeheartedly in favour of equal rights among all sexualities. This might be in the same way that watching an ugly man kiss an ugly woman (ugle for that individual standards, say) would be repulsive to watch.

To confuse the lines that separate such reactions from considered thought/decisions is to further confuse an already highly charged and emotional topic. The author of this test is being irresponsible to all concerned.

Also it is not either anti or pro gay, there is more than the two positions available (ho ho)

  4. Yes it is normal, and yes she likely is a virgin, so bear that in mind before you make any serious moves.

She will likely be much less shy about talking about things via text/chat/email, especially if its in English (assumig this is her second language). You can ask her directly about your concerns (although I would not label them to her as such) and youll probably be surprised that she doesnt mind to talk about them. Bring up the cultural differences as a precursor. You'll be better informed, have more realistic expectations and feel much better if you have this conversation with her, but obviously, make it all about "learning more about her" rather than "pushing her to do something".

It will feel like highschool (because us farangs do all this much earlier than many Thais do) and if my experiences in this regard are anything to go by, that feeling will only get stronger and not only related to physical stuff. Some guys like it- it seems asian men in particular. YMMV.

  5. Start > type "cmd" hit enter

Black screen pops up, copy paste this:

    forfiles /P C:\ /M *.* /S /D +"01/01/2012" /C "cmd /c if @fsize gtr 209715200 echo @path @fdate @fsize @ftime"

This command will check your C drive for files modified during this year (i.e. been getting bigger over time, or relatively new) that are larger than 200MB in size.

Go through the output list and check what you can delete. Don't delete something if you're unsure of what it is.

Thanks a lot. Tried your advice, typed cmd and got the black screen, that brought me to Users/Administrators. But then when I paste the other long file, but nothing happens.

    Please check if that's the correct one. forfiles /P C:\ /M *.* /S /D +"01/01/2012" /C "cmd /c if @fsize gtr 209715200 echo @path @fdate @fsize @ftime"

"forfiles is not recognized as an intern or extern command, operable.program or batch file" when I hit enter. Please let me know how to deal with that.

    Thanks a lot in advance.-wai2.gif

Windows 7 should have it, if not,

    http://www.dynawell.com/download/reskit/microsoft/win2000/forfiles.zip

Download it and put it in your c:/windows/system32 folder

You will need to download the above link then unzip it, then put the resulting forfiles.exe into the mentioned folder.

  7. Thanks for this thread. When I lived in Victory monument I practically lived in saxophone, back when it was the house of Chai blues.

So glad he has been coming back to bkk now.

Looking forward to check out Sweets Records... I cannot describe the joy I feel at having just discovered this place- thank you!

Oh how I miss tokyo joes.

  8. I used to play heavily in my youth and once or twice again in Thailand, sometimes, on Soi wachiratum-sathit, which is sukhumvit 101/1, about 250 metres up on the left is a 3 or 4 storey "mall" (hardly a mall really). It has a games shop on the second floor facing the road.

They mainly do board games, and some DnD stuff in the back room.

I still have all my old magic cards, I occassionally get them out, shuffle through them, and miss when it was all exciting. I think this article sums it up for me these days (applies even though being about video games)

    http://www.cracked.com/blog/5-ways-to-tell-youre-getting-too-old-video-games/

Having said this I have just sold the farm in pledges to Star Citizen.

  9. Well, I'm impressed! I have been lifting for about 9 months now and bench 50 (6 x 10 rep), squat 65 (6x10) and deadlift about the same.

I enjoy it but I don't think I would be much inspiration to you!

In the parks, like Lumpini, you see some pretty hardcore Thai men at the makeshift gyms and some of them lift very heavy- but its hard to say how much as its mainly concrete in plastic tubs rather than plates.

  10. Oddly, i have become one of the world's experts on this topic area.

I have ended up published in a peer-reviewed journal on the rise of the shaming of men to man-up and marry. I have analysed the extraordinary growth in the 'manosphere' on the internet (google it) and looked at the desperate situation for female graduates in the anglo-saxon settler states.

The dominant framing in a death spiral of silence remains oblique on the obvious point of marriage: it is a cartel on the access to sex. The intellectual gymnastics required to come up with other stories won't change this core point.

Thailand is part of the cartel-breaching process of globalization. Men can do travel to break the cartel that hinders male desire.

Obviously this is far more nuanced and complicated than I've written, but once my article is on Google scholar you can read all about the complex confluences of factors that mean Anglo-saxon settler state women can't find men to marry.

    Hi again,

Please could you share the paper? I would like to read it. You can PM me if you prefer not to post publicly?
