15 years ago we had quite big Thai Visa partie in Chiang Mau...Always great fun..I have made a few lifelong freinds from these parties..there was never any downsides to them.

What about Healthcare? This is something that affects all us retirees one way or another. Can anyone shed light on the medical facilities in Vietnam? Any international hospitals?

It's only fair that low paid workers should earn enough to live on. At 400 a day that's only 2 grand a week....not enough with prices rising everywhere, yet that's all they are gonna get. If we foreigners have to pay a bit more so that Somchai can put a roof over his head and feed himself I think we wouod all be happy to pay a bit more so that can happen

I was prompted to download the new Skype alternative yesterday. They stole what credit I still had with Skype. I certainly won't be using anymore. Easier with WhatsAp Messenger and zLine and they are all free. Skype and those kind of systems are obsolete now

I feel sorry for you OP, If you still have family and a place to live back in Oz then go there and start a new life. Thailand is not for you......many of us find it is, I've been here 21 years now, sold my biz, married a gal, very very content, but it's not for everyone. I wish you all the luck in the world back home

Where does this leave all the companies that have set up tax advisory services and already taken money from foreigners to take care of their taxes? What will they do if this whole process is scrapped?

I was on holiday and asleep one night when I suddenly woke thinking that one of the Koh Chang elephants had kicked me in the balls. Pain was awful. Went to the hospital in the morning and they took one look at the swelling on my left side and sent me to the main Bangkok Hospital in Trat by ambulance. They tried to bring the swelling down with anti biotics but could not do so...then they sent me back to Hua Hin where they tried more anti biotics but they still failed to bring the swelling or infection down so whoosh...out it came, it was huge....but no diagnosis at all, I still don't know it happened or if it related to previous issues So now I am "one ball Paul" and it seems my privates are falling to bits bit by bit....still in diapers, still getting UTI "s

My offshore bank hounded me for my TIN number about 3 years ago. This goes a way to explaining why as I did not understand why it was so important to them at the time Luckily I had a business here about 20 years ago , the clerk managed to find my file at City Hall, CM but it was in a cardboard box in cellar.
