As a tendency this is very most probably correct. But problems with Thai Hospitals are manifold. You may distinguish between private and government institutions. It is already hidden in the term "private" that this a more business oriented unit. But it depends on the doctor as well. I remember that a doctor at a private hospital gave me a money saving tip resulting in less money for the hospital and savings for me. So far I have not seen ONE hospital bill from a government hospital that I thought was over the top. Quite the opposite. Private Hospitals seem to have a directive to go for as many "control-checkups" as possible. And to take a more simple example: if you have cholesterone values about equal over a long period it does not make much sense to check again every 4 weeks - right ? In these cases I tell the doctor right away or simply call before the appointment that I am not coming or at least not in this timeframe. Then its competency. Fortunately I have a Swiss Doctor as a close friend and in cases which I feel are critical I may have an alternative opinion in no time. And for a specific case you may as well educate yourself. That is not easy because of the numerous pitfalls that open information and non specific information pertaining to your special case presents - you may be lead astray. But knowing that, investing a lot of time might give you a valuable edge of knowledge and enable you at least to ask specific questions which your "specialist" would not expect from a patient, the uneducated source of his salary. Thai doctors do not like to hear any (or at least little) questions anyway, farang or not. All based on own experience or of that of family members. Unfortunately there is quite a lot of experience since we are all sick somehow. No 1 is me with several dozens of ailments, some serious. No 2 is my young stepdaughter who has not much but actually rare illnesses. My wife is the healthiest of us all with only a bit of slight pre-diabetes and cholesterol problems. I wish the OP all the best in the future

OP, I think you are a lucky guy. Nothing more easy than to buy unsalted peanuts. Available in nearly every supermarket. For blending/mixing it depends on the amount. I would make small batches and for this a small kitchen machine called a "Moulinette" is both cheap and powerful. But only for small quantitiies If it comes to some serious blending/mixing and you would like to make it your hobby then go for a brand called "Blendtech". But they are very expensive. About 10 times more than the Moulinette. I have never eaten Peanut Butter as well in my life, nor do I ever wish to. And I am an European. Macadamias are fine, but what applies to Peanut Butter applies to Vegemite as well. Never eaten and I do not feel inclined to change that habit. Peanut Oil would be perfect. Just started a professional WOK-station in our new garden for which I waited decades. But this oil is (in Thailand) crazy expensive. But last dreams during my last times.

Not only that. It does not surprize me concerning the Romanovs, but depending where you ask it might even get more strange. Ask any person regardless of age in the countryside who the Beatles were. Or anybody who Charlie Chaplin was. They have never heard of them.

Yellow House Book revisited
moogradod replied to cooked's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
We should think of the equivalent of a "Ripley's Believe it or not" with one of the items being displayed a full Driving License - but geographically restricted within its own country. For sure we would find many examples to fill a whole museum (I can think of a Red Light mounted just above your own lane, but only valid for the lane to the right - without any sign saying so - so you are good to go when it shows red - exists in Pattaya) With entrance fees for Foreign Guests X THB and Locals 2X THB to make it more even further authentic. -
Yellow House Book revisited
moogradod replied to cooked's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
For Chonburi: Isn't it that I NEED a yellow book when I will move to the new house of my Thai wife and give up our rented condo (happens all in Chonburi) when 1. I need to apply for a new passport in a few years time (German). I suppose I cannot have a CoR anymore without a rental contract. My Wife has a Blue Book. At least for a CoR a rental contract always was a requirement at Jomtien. I am a holder of a Thai-Elite PE Visa 2. Would it make sense to involve an agent for some steps, although he might not be able to interact with the embassy (although I would be very reluctant to do that) Reason: It is very much true that some easy things can be difficult and supposedly difficult things easy here. Some kind of lottery. However given the extraordinary friendly, lovable nature of my wife who will always accompany me it was most of the time (if not always) the latter. -
Foodland has always had them, and according to my wife, they still sell it today. If we buy, we buy the big pack (24 pieces with 2 cubes each in it). If in an emergency, there are as well "Knorr" Bouillon Cubes (same Design, but Thai writing) in TOPS. It may as well be substituted by "Rosdee" (we call it the "happy pig" variety, they have as well "happy chicken". And a combination of both comes (well at least a bit) close the the stock that is mandatory for chinese cooking. I make my hot and sour soup with it as a base and it is absolutely stunning.

Given the (probably) relatively low number of overstayers all in all I really cannot understand the huge importance that is contributed to this issue which makes big headlines. They present a caught overstayer like a drug lord. What evil does an overstayer actually commit ? Spending money for the benefit of the economy cannot be it. Not that I am against the law. But this is all a bit exaggerated isn't it ?

The headline of this post is - taken alone - utterly wrong. But maybe the OP meant not to help if you dont know all or most of the circumstances surrounding the matter. Because IF you do, it is easy to determine if it is right or wrong by yourself: You will most of the time find to receive more goodwill yourself than you put into it. But not only you may suffer by misjudgement, you could eventually even trigger the opposite consequences that you had in mind: You set a bird free to do it good, but after some minutes it might be eaten up by a cat. But in the vast majority of times to help somebody would rather result in happiness for yourself. The unfortunate examples listed do not contradict that universal truth.

No, we must not acknowledge spending too much time on UTUBE. As you say yourself in the following sentence, it is full of valuable content (sometimes of the very highest standard) and it has helped me many times not only in my fields of interest but as a problem solving tool as well. It is a real blessing that so many people feel inclined to share their knowledge about anything and be it not so weird. So if you are looking for something specific you are most likely to find it ! Of course when there is a lot of sun there is shadow as well. It is up to you what you watch and what you dont. Watching for a while will get you soon a feeling for what is good and what is a pure waste of time. And many contributions are much more entertaining then any TV show I have ever watched. I would be careful with so called "news". I never even have a look at them on UTUBE. And the more technical possibilities of forgery of pictures, films and sound progress the more critical this issue becomes.

Of course you should ask the hospital which will perform the GA. In this respect I can as well not help you since I am not qualified to do that as everybody here points out as well. I would do that well before they treat you (mabe they have to order some special medicaments) and then mention it again directly to the anesthesist that will do the GA. But your post was indeed not for nothing ! You have helped ME. I have used Propofol many many times to perform a colonoscopy. The last time many years ago with Propofol - after that in Thailand only with Dormicum (no Fentanyl) but out of the cost issue and not for a medical reason ! But after that I was diagnosed with a severe cardiomyophaty (not caused by the Propofol I suppose) and now I hear from you for the first time that it might be critical to use Propofol with this precondition. As I have always loved the Propofol sedation (for a colonskopy it is not really deep so I was told) I will be very careful in the future once I would again do a colonoskopy and demand Propofol which would be due soon again. Thank you for the hint. Who knows, maybe this has even saved my life.

Something fishy with th electric bills ?
moogradod replied to moogradod's topic in The Electrical Forum
Too late. I reserve the international version for my next order of 5 more and then it may as well act as an connection converter. Is there a limitation as to how many of plugs may be supported ? For switching on/off and various security gimmiks like different sensors and cameras I use TAPO TP-Link which connects to a base station which then connects to the internet. What is new here is the power measurement. -

I just bought 5 of these: Then all I need is the tuya application, probably an account with them and the measuring pleasure may begin. -
Something fishy with th electric bills ?
moogradod replied to moogradod's topic in The Electrical Forum
Thank you for the education. But I am learning ! So TGSG will be my glass provider and the profiles will be imported from either Germany or Japan. And any overpriced offer for imported glass rejected. Seems I approach more and more the moment where I can order without hesitation. All I need now is the general contractor that puts all those loose ends together and seems trustworthy with some references to show me. -

This is sad actually. Reminds me of the emission values of vehicles. And who would believe the fuel consumption that is printed in the high gloss documentations. On the other hand, if the laboratory conditions would be the same for each manufacturer then SEER would at least make a bit sense. I agree that it would not make sense at all if everyone might set the most favourable test conditions for his specific product. And the consumer is the silly-billy. -
Something fishy with th electric bills ?
moogradod replied to moogradod's topic in The Electrical Forum
Why should this be ? It is direct proportional to the energy consumption under equal conditions. A higher SEER rating therefore means savings. Of course those evaporate if you run the AC longer as intended etc. But this is not the point. -

You mentioned TGSG (Thai-German-Speciality-Glass) as the supplier of the windows. This sounds a bit like import. The builder showed me a picture of the insulation that he did put under our roof. Looked like a fairly thick block of some yellow material finished off by a thin layer of tinfoil. As far as the company involved are concerned I have now contact with a company called Schueco. The Managing Director is German and he was talking about the imported glass if I understood correctly. I have as well contact to a nearby local supplier who does import profiles from Japan but he was quite impresssed when I showed him your spec of glass. It appeared that he did never see anything like this. I have seen the catalogue from the Japanese profile provider. This is for sure no cheap and inferior stuff. Up to now I have no ball-park quotation whatsoever. Prime-Asia did not really react the way I would have preferred. Maybe this a heavily contested market like estate brokerage. I once sold a condo (in Switzerland) and hope to have never to do this again in my life. Guess the mafia is easy in comparison. -

Here is what SEER means: https://www.hvac.com/expert-advice/what-is-seer-rating/ In short: It is a measure for the ACs efficiency. The higher the SEER value, the less energy is necessary to produce one BTU. 20 or more is excellent, 16 so la la. -
Why are Filipinos/Filipinas so friendly?
moogradod replied to bob smith's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
This is all correct - but you forget to mention the downside: While they are more Western they are less Asian as well. I did not even feel I was in Asia while I was there - exept for the temperatures. So to say it bluntly: Why travel 10K Miles only to have more miserable food than back home (well not exactly I know, at least the beaches are really wonderful ???? Never seen such clear water before. -

May I ask what company ? 4K saving per month is 48k per year. This makes 336K for the whole system (I hope incl. installation) to give the ROI you say. Indeed this would be interesting. Is it off grid as well ? At night at least 2 aircons run in our house. The Seijo Denki kind with 12000 BTU and SEER 15.4 unfortunately. The fridge which I thought takes huge amounts of energy uses but 130W. Probably per hour so 3120W per day. About the same as our Main Daikin. I am playing with the idea to install Solar just for the fridge, two washing machines and one dishwasher, which will run as well every day. But I need a knowledgeable and fair company that discusses with me everything - if possible near Pong, Chonburi as can be. -

Something fishy with th electric bills ?
moogradod replied to moogradod's topic in The Electrical Forum
Unfortunately you may be very much correct. I have already located someone who can reinforce the ceiling insulation using foam from the inside and we are currently discussing security glass anyway which has a build in heat protection layer (if we can and want to afford it - it might be very expensive due to import from Germany - but it would be the same glass that was used to build the English Embassy in Laos. By the way, 32 degrees is not what I really hoping for. I moved here from Switzerland and at night the windows in the sleeping room were open at times. A question of the blanket (filled with real feathers). Our condo now has comfortable 24 degrees. -

Where do you put the Tuya Monitor Plug if you want to measure 1. The Ceiling Mounted AC 2. The pool pumps If you wire it somehow to the brakeout box, does this not interfere with the "inspection" that might be performed by the authorities once the builder changes from Production to Permanent Tariff (if he has not done this yet). -

When we enter the living room from outside without having switched on the AC, temperatures have been measured up to 45 degr. Celsius. The original Seijo Denki with 24'000 BTU had to be replaced (by us) for it did not noticeably cool the room. We moved this AC to another place in the room as backup and emergency cooler. The current Daikin Ceiling Mounted with 36kBTU is brandnew - and frankly even this one does not really cool down the temperatures as quickly as I want. After some hours of so about 24 degrees can be reached, just like I want it. Our ACs in the condo now are set to 23-24 degrees and it takes some minutes to get to this. -

???? You know very well what I mean. When my exwife and me wanted to return from a disco to our hotel (distance about 200m) we were advised to take a taxi ! The Disco was an experience in itself by the way. Pitch Black inside (for a reason of course ????) and a sound like the membranes of the speakers were ripped apart while running at max volume.
