  1. Is relying on tourism the way to address the many economic issues in Thailand?
  2. Whether you do or not the important question is: "Do you believe in the institutionalization of the concept of God by man - IE Religion.
  3. How about this: My First ATM card
  4. Sorting through some of my "IT junk" Came across this! I'm sure I had some punched tape somewhere
  5. I guess America will get the president it deserves and either way it goes the rest of the world will have to suffer for it.
  6. Well it makes some sense. last Year (I think) I downloaded this from the Embassy but at the moment I can't locate it on their site คำแนะนำเบื้องต้นเมื่อบุคคลสัญชาติอังกฤษเสียชีวิตในประเทศไทย - GOV(1) What to do in Thai It was in English and Thai if you want a copy PM me. I
  7. En Vino Veritas 'what soberness conceals, drunkenness reveals'; 'he speaks in his drink what he thought in his drouth'; and 'a drunk man's words are a sober man's thoughts'. Having lived in Spain for quite a few years where you can get a good wine for a few Euros I was shocked at Thai wine prices - on the other hand I couldn't get lunch for 60 Baht in Spain. Swings and roundabouts wherever you go in the world.
  8. Off topic I know but this reminds me of the other Thai censorship - when you watch a film shown by Thai TV and someone is smoking - the censors blur it out which in my opinion only emphasises that nasty habit more!
  9. Boiling water is fine for bacterial (maybe viral) contamination but does not remove chemical contamination
  10. So now we know there is a problem but not not specifically which bottled water is affected? We have to stop buying all bottled water just in case? Have samples of the end product been tested for contamination?
  11. If anyone else is interested in WELINE OS here's a link that might give some insight https://doc.weline.io/Getting Start/Device Binding and Sharing/
  12. Sure will - this is the type of feedback I was looking for although I'm not sure why a VPN might be a security issue I continue my research without your input - found on Amazon: 1.0 out of 5 stars Manufactuer demands a VPN to monitor your network! Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 22 November 2023 Forget this as a NAS drive. To use as a nas drive, an app must be installed on your PC or phone. If you refuse the app, you are unable to use the drive as a NAS, it's just a glorified SSD exclosure. Massively overpriced as just an enclosure. If you don't understand networking very well, the VPN access would give them access to far more than just your traffic. Your device could be attacked behind the protection your routers firewall provides. Spyware, trojans or viruses could be planted that could gain access to anything unprotected. And a company that would demand such access, what they could do with the app on your phone should keep you awake at night. This is scary. Such a shame, this could have been an awesome little device. 13. I was just aking if anyone had knowledge - don't see a reason to be sarcastic. If you don't have any experience with it no need to respond.
  14. My gf does great Fish & Chips, Suasages, Pork Pie, and various Pies - also Chorizo, Churros. Obviously she believes in the old saying the way to a man's heart is through the stomach. I am still trying to persuade her there is another way, in the meantime I'm putting on weight through lack of exercise!
  15. Possibly but Shopee links don't work for me - they want me to sign in / setup an account before I can access their site But you are probably right I am looking at https://www.lazada.co.th/products/i4869257222-s20369484425.html?spm=a2o42.my_wishlist.price_observing.65.50696108EiXRiR or https://www.lazada.co.th/products/i4898355861-s20638534550.html?spm=a2o42.my_wishlist.price_observing.67.258f6108ey6Kgf Both are single bay NAS - it's for my partner who has in excess of 12,000 photos on her phone and they only get backed up when I insist on removing her sd card and do a physical backup (USB from her old phone refuses to complete) I did put an app on her phone to do auto backup to my NAS but that has stopped working and she cannot be relied on to check. I may be away for some time so I want to automate as much as possible and I've read the blurb which says "auto backup" but I was looking to see if anyone actually had experience of using the OS.
  16. Yes I bought two bottles of Pietro Coricelli Extra Virgin from the food shop in terminal 21 at a very special price - also had a code for traceability - tried it on their website - couldn't be found and doesn't taste like it's 100% Olive Oil - smoked at a very low temperature - I ditched a bottle and a half - not such a bargain! Personally, I like the Spanish Borges Extra Virgin although I agree Bertolli is also good and the Spanish Carbonell is OK. I never buy Sabroso - in my opinion poor quality. I think it was al jazeera documentaries who did a piece on food adulteration and false labelling including the lengths the Italians go to to try to prevent it for their Olive oil - a real eye opener it was. I love my Olive oil on bread toasted and spread with chopped tomato - very Spanish!
  17. I stopped reading this thread at 100 pages - it's too unwieldy to follow now. Once the rules are known I suggest a new thread. And I point you all to something called the Serenity prayer (not that I am religious but the sentiments are sound): God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; courage to change the things I can; and wisdom to know the difference.
  18. It's an Android OS for some NAS boxes Mobile Phone based but I guess you could use on windows with an Android emulator - any thoughts appreciated
  19. You can't tether your mobile ?
  20. my internet goes down once every 3 months or so - Squirelised - But 3BB come the same day and fix it. In the UK I have sim based 4G router for 5 years or so but over here I suspect prices will be too high and 5G routers are still expensive. Compared to what I pay on 3 BB (450 a month including TV on a special 2 year deal a year ago). When that expires I might look at going cable free and deprive the Squirrels of their fun!
  21. Thanks Now that I have persuaded my GF that using the C type for earphones is not life threatening (mine not hers!) and I have found a "splitter" to enable simultaneous (I hope) charging and listening I am reviewing whether the A54 (which gets very good reviews) and which I have seen at 11800 on Lazada (only 1000 more) maybe a much better long term prospect
  22. I suppose one section of the tourist visitors might increase - the ups and downs of international tourism figures!
  23. Not according to this: https://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_galaxy_a53_5g-11268.php Also if you read te revue above on the site above you will see they actually like the 52 more! But who knows in this mysterious world of mobile phones - I guess seeing is believing is the best watchword.
  24. Thanks already tried but as it's an old model they don't seem to stock it anymore.
  25. Yes I am aware BUT the 52 has something both the others you mention don't have - a jack socket AND before you say - yes I know you can buy a c type USB connector BUT you don't have my girlfriend who does not even want to change her WICO Y61 -Android 10 (ugh) and anyway as it's an old model I expect (Ho Ho) a good price that's certainly the case in Europe.
