  1. Just to clarify - If I have the 30 day TGIA insurance but my return ticket is say 5 months after entry won't that cause issues for the Thai pass?
  2. I'm not whinging I'm just looking for the best option. The best way to find that is to discuss it with other reasonable people which is clearly not you. The reason I have assets in excess of $50K is precisely because I was and am carefully about spending my money and look at all options before I do.
  3. Thanks for the link but it is confusing - if you look at the attachment it clearly says the insurance must be for the whole of the stay and yet the only cover it offers is 30 days! Also 3,700baht for 30 days of Covid only cover seems a bit steep to me. But thanks for being as ever the source of so much knowledge
  4. We are planning out in mid May back in mid Sept so a lot can change even during the course of the time in the UK - but as I said in the initial thread if we wait for certainty we could be waiting for years! 2 points 1. is the 50K medical or Covid cover? 2. I'm in my late 70's -(no pre-existing to my knowledge) but medical cover can be very expensive at my age and I think unnecessary since I have had 3 jabs and I have assets well in excess of $50K
  5. Just a follow up - if I have a retirement extension (which I believe does not need insurance whilst I am in Thailand) do I need insurance to re-enter country on Thai pass?
  6. I know it's a long way off but we are thinking of a trip to the UK in May (well you can't hide yourself away forever). As things stand at the moment do double vaccinated Thai nationals have the same re-entry conditions as other nationalities (i.e. a Thai Pass)?
  7. Thanks for that eff1n2ret - I'll give it a try but soon she should be getting her booster so I'll probably wait for that. Incidentally I couldn't open your sample attachment -something about you not having permission - probably a built in anti copying thing.
  8. "The Mor Phrom International certificate may be different. " My gf has mor phrom but she seems to think that the info it gives now is different to the info it gave a few months ago (maybe just in presentation - i don't know as i can't read it properly) BUT what is the mor phrom international certificate - and how to get one?
  9. Yes but are you Thai or English and did you do privately or via the Thai government?
  10. And is in Thai or English? Needed for international travel
  11. First visit to UK and Europe (Schengen) 2009 since then 5 or 6 trips and one to USA (10 year visa) other years short trips in SE Asia (to save money!)
  12. Thanks soi3eddie I don't think it will be a problem either as she has a house in Thailand and I have a 30 year lease on land where I built a house we just genuinely want to spend time in both countries.
  13. Actually status has changed in one respect she retired in September 2021 - she was a government teacher. Is it necessary to report that?
  14. Thank you for your answer - I have retirement visa extension for Thailand and the purpose of the 10 year visa was so that we could spend time together in the UK and Thailand (and Spain where we have some very good friends - but that needs a Schengen visa each time) She also has a 10 year US visa. Being a typical Thai she believes Thailand is the centre of the earth and has no desire to live permanently anywhere else but does enjoy visiting other cultures!
  15. I think I may have posted this to the wrong place before -if so apologies: My Thai girlfriend has a 10 year tourist visa expiring in 2026 which I believe (subject to the actual immigration officer on arrival) gives her up to a 180 day stay in any 12 month period. She hasn't been able to use this since 2019 because of Covid restrictions (in Thailand and in the UK) but we are hoping to get back to the UK in May (we are both currently in Thailand - I managed to get back in December after 2 years absence). The question is: Has anything changed the validity of the visa she has during the Covid restrictions over the last two years? She will of course comply with all the other requirements for entry extant at our arrival date.

  17. I am re-initiating my retirement visa extension having lost it due to absence from the country due to Covid. I now have a O visa which ends in early March my IO has said I can apply for the retirement extension 45 days before it expires. In the past I have always done the visa extension and a multiple re-entry permit at the same time. So here is the question: If I apply for the retirement visa extension well before the "O" expires can I also apply for the re-entry permit at that time and will it start from the day I apply (and be valid for 1 year from that date?) or will it run from the the date the retirement visa extension starts? Or would it be better to wait until the start date of the retirement extension to apply for the reentry permit? Thanks
  18. Hi just an update about the Altis foggy lights. Today I called in at my local dealership (I get them to service it from time to time) - cost to replace both headlights 6,000 Baht!!!!!. So (after they revived me) when I got home I reviewed all your kind inputs and I found one I hadn't tried - WD 40 (or similar). Hey presto! It made a significant improvement - I followed this up with a paste of ARO stain remover powder (I use this a lot for removing the carbon from the cooking pans I burn!!). Now I would say that the light intensity is 60 to 70% better. But now it is also obvious that the lights have a lot of crazing inside, but at least I have bought myself some time.
  19. Thanks everybody for your help with the headlight issue Does anybody know the answer to the second question: Are spotlights/driving lights legal in Thailand?
  20. Thanks yellowtail I found the item it seems they only have LH (no RH) and if you look at the bit I've highlighted that's a bit confusing. BUT I looked at the end of the page you sent and found this - not sure if that price is for a pair or not. Thanks again for taking the time to help.
