  1. After the exceptionally mild Songkran days (can't remember such lows) we are now back to "normal". 40 = 104 in the shack. For the dogs I have a "mobile AC" (evaporater) Daughter got mad when I let them in the house.
  2. Get these monsters off the road. I remember that they are often built with heavy "ordinary" glass on the upper deck ignoring regulations. Makes them even more shacky, higher center of gravity.
  3. I simply get me three statements from the branch covering the year seamlessly. At Bangkok Bank you can only determine start date, end date is always day before applying So it's close to impossible to get fine monthly statements from first to last day of month. Request a statement in Thai language. It's a different world.
  4. Name in Thai script: หนังสือรับรองยอดเงินฝาก (năng-sĕu ráp rong yôt ngern fàak) Translates as : certificate of deposit balance. Google simply says: Deposit Certificate
  5. That's a Bangkok Bank account letter confirming account holder/type and balance from 2022. (I change to income since 2023) It's an A4 paper, on the bottom is stamp and signature.
  6. Living in the sticks sometimes has advantages I think my record for one year extension is about 20 min all completed.
  7. Not living in in Pattaya but circled with the scooter since 2004 on short visits. I would be puzzled if this picture is Pattaya. Varying lane indicators?? Undivided road with four lanes in one direction?? That's a big city, Bangkok or not? Not a single pickup in sight??
  8. I think I will miss the fun. For a Pattaya bar crawl this would be THE eye-catcher.
  9. One reason to still have the cards with me. No fee four times a month at any/in between major banks (within the area/province).
  10. Might well be. My post has been removed but the lenghty video contains the same sequence.
  11. I remember for sure that the 6 month rule for Thailand has been abolished. "Valid for period of stay in Thailand". "Passengers must hold a valid passport with at least 2 blank pages." https://www.traveldoc.aero/results Check with your airline. Can't find a full TIMATIC query publicly available anymore. (TIMATIC is the reference for all IATA airlines)
  12. Bangkok Bank and Kasikorn allow cardless withdrawals from each other's ATMs. But recently noticed that it always cost a fee a the others ATM.
  13. But why do the cables come down? Obviously hanging to deep. The trailer is a proper low loader, a rare sight up here. Does not look like it's higher than 4 meters?
  14. Who is more stupid? GPS/maps app or drivers not properly planning a trip beforehand? Of course you use the bypass/ringroad. Khon Kaen has become a traffic nightmare anyway.
  15. So he should have known about the speed bumps. Ignoring on a two wheeler is a very bad idea. On the other hand it is a shame and typical neglect that many speed bumps are barely visible particularly in the night. They are meant to be clearly visible to remind drivers to slow down. They are not meant to be invisible death traps.
  16. About 7? billion who don't. I use cashless where I find it appropriate. Not at 7/11 for the brownie. Never physically use a foreign credit card in Thailand. Rarely having less than 10k Baht with me when going out.
  17. It was in the 1990s and the natural features are not easy found in another developed country (with all the infrastructure). Volcanoes, desert and green jungle within an hour drive. Is Lahaina still a heap of ash or rebuilt? Really moved me to learn about this catastrophic fire. Hawaii is more than Waikiki. Thailand is more than Patong.
  18. Stay away. And that is what more and more potential USA tourists do. Travel agencies are worried about oncoming seasons. There other more welcoming countries. 4 hours at the immigration queue, mobile phones searched. Confiscated and denied entry when refusing to provide passwords etc. Indiscriminate assumptions like in this and other cases. Now think of you to come to Thailand for 60 days. Having booked whole trip? Any Thailand critical stuff on your devices? You look like you want to to work here! -> off to detention.
  19. Tarrifs up to about 3500% on solar cells from Chinese owned factories in Thailand and Cambodia. Basically a hidden import ban. German solar cell industry has already been destroyed by Chinese imports. Similar with wind turbines.
  20. Lunar Beach House north Pattaya branch:
  21. So this is a "sister" of the established Lunar Beach House on Pratamnak/Jomtien. Been there once. Found the new location on Instagram ("thelunarbeachhouse").
  22. The trays are 30 eggs. Last price here was 120 Baht (medium size). 4 Baht, about 12 US cent per egg. Tell our US fellows that this is an egg price crisis Pack of 10 and 30 is indeed styleless. Traditionely it was 12 (dozen) and multiples.
