  1. Thread from 2023.
  2. Bkb
  3. Sure disappointing. But as I explained there was and obviously is a problem with Swedish Crowns. I bet all banks will refuse. Just looked up Bangkok Bank site. No cash rates for Swedish, Danish and Norwegian cash.
  4. Didn't find a single flight that actually departed today. Either cancelled or delayed for 7 hours and more.
  5. Detours, longer travel time, rising fuel cost. And for travel from Europe the high season is coming to an end anyway. The shock will last and hit mideast airlines hard. Travellers paying more for crowded nonstops.
  6. You can walk to the most remote place in Thailand with no success. VASU exchange in Bangkok (one of the most recommended) offers 2.85. Good luck finding any better. Change SEK to EUR in Sweden before travelling (if that is still possible with a good rate).
  7. But it's not their fault. Refer to your cash hating government. All cashless. My fellow Swiss made sure that cash will stay a citizens constitutional right.
  8. SEK? Swedish Crowns? You better mentioned that from the beginning. I remember that there was a particular problem with this and another Nordic currency. As far as I remember the national banks didn't (or don't) accept returned cash. There was a period when SEK wasn't accepted at all. For reference: TT Exchange in Pattaya shows a rate of 2.25 for the SEK. While the currency market rate is about 3.47. Bad luck. There should be a clear warning: don't take Nordic cash for travel.
  9. Bad news but saves me time to research. Thanks
  10. More than 40 posts on a topic done to death multiple times 🙄
  11. Haven't seen. Thanks for the hint. Will look on.
  12. Plan B is registering with another service. "currencyfair" looks quite good for me. Will try my luck. Proof of address in Thailand might be the hurdle. Plan C is pension offices send directly to Kasikorn 😝 and close home country account.
  13. Just did my monthly transfer from WISE EUR account to Kasikorn Bank. All smooth as usual. But I guess I have not seen an option about proof of foreign transfer in the past?
  14. After the naked foreigner now naked kathoeys. It's a mad place. Another "hillbilly" Indian falling for the tall Thai ladies? 😁
  15. There is no 85 octane fuel in Thailand. What you see is E85, 85% ethanol content. It is only usable for vehicles that are approved for it. Gasohol 95 is 95 octane with 10% ethanol. Best seller for most non Diesel vehicles.
  16. Link withdrawn really sounds like a PR debacle. Premature. Hope they can clarify whether the typical money transfer from home country to Thailand will work or not. Pension transfer and similar. If not then it's bye bye. Worst case for me: direct transfer of full pensions to Thai bank account by pension offices. Hate it.
  17. Really? 50'000 Thai Baht? That would affect all "65k" transfers for the typical pensioner.
  18. They seem aware that the consulate letter is somewhat unrealistic? Click/tap image for full size/zoom.
  19. No panic up here. The government's reassurances have apparently not reached everyone down south 😁
  20. This could quickly erupt to panic buying by alarming news/posts on social media. Just seen one about packed fuel station in Phuket.
  21. Always astonished how lax some countries handle passport issuing. Swiss embassy requires appearance in person to take biometric photo, fingerprints and signature all digital.
  22. That's what Emirates offered to my mate (rebooked on another airline). As his English is not good enough he went to an Emirates office in Bangkok. Was a little bit crowded 😁
  23. And tell about his dream holiday in Thailand. The land of the kind and ever smiling Siamese.
  24. Thanks for the first meaningful response. This forum goes downhill steeply. A mate being in Thailand ist more lucky. His planned return with Emirates was cancelled of course. But they rebooked him to a KLM flight on March14 just before his 60 days over. He is retired, has the money and extends his stay in Bang Saray.
  25. Many years in Khon Kaen it was ok with all the stuff from the day before. Some two years ago I was asked to update bank book on day of application. That's not a big deal.
