British Tourists Attack German Man in Pattaya Bar Clash

A violent brawl involving foreign tourists broke out in Pattaya’s Soi Buakhao nightlife district at around 2 am on 22 April 2026, leaving a 44-year-old German man injured. Witnesses said two drunk British men allegedly attacked the victim,  kicking and punching him to the ground in the middle of the street. The altercation caused alarm among nearby tourists and residents before bystanders intervened.

According to reports, the confrontation began inside a bar when the British men were allegedly boasting about winning two World Wars and directing verbal abuse at others. The dispute escalated after German man attempted to speak with them, at which point the men reportedly turned aggressive. Footage captured by a Facebook user shows the assault continuing outside near the entrance to Soi Honey, with the victim being forced onto the pavement.

The German’s girlfriend, identified only as May, said the attackers behaved erratically, shouted ‘is that your nazi boyfriend’ and spat in her face when she tried to intervene. She also stated that her boyfriend is physically fragile due to existing heart and lung conditions and had only arrived in Pattaya on 13 April. During the chaos, bar workers and bystanders, including motorcycle taxi riders, stepped in to break up the fight.

Witnesses reported that one of the attackers also spat at another Thai woman who attempted to assist the victim, further inflaming tensions. Despite efforts to restrain them, the two British suspects fled the scene before police patrol officers arrived.

Authorities confirmed that no formal complaints have been filed so far, but an investigation has been launched. Officers are reviewing video footage and gathering witness statements to establish the facts and identify those responsible. Legal action will depend on whether victims or witnesses come forward to cooperate with the inquiry.

The incident highlights ongoing issues linked to alcohol-related disturbances in Pattaya’s busy nightlife zones. Local authorities are continuing efforts to promote the city as a safe destination for families, despite repeated reports of late-night violence in tourist areas.

The Sun reported that police are expected to continue their investigation in the coming days, with further action pending identification of the suspects and any formal complaints.

THere are people that enjoy hurting others and these two are despicable human beings.

I have got in fights but never enjoyed inflicting pain like these two. I would have stood up after the fist punch or two and backed away if it was only me. If I was with a friend, we would do our best to avoid a confrontation against 1 person. I can't imagine teaming up on a weak individual and slugging him in the face repeatedly. It takes a certain type of monster to do this...

Happens weekly in Pattaya. Low class people go there. You would not see a fight in Bang Saphan cause no low class people go there.

What do you think should happen with the woman involved ?

She was able to stop the idiots from doing more damage to her BF. She basically made it a 1.5 men against one weak man fight. So much more to this story but from this short clip, I think she behaved appropriately. My wife wouldn't have made any difference in the outcome nor know how to react to this type of violence. I have no idea what she would do.

Yep, let's face it. The bar scene attracts a lot of low-lifes.

it most certainly does and I have had many close calls. The worst was a Brit Muay Thai fighter that was 25 years younger and 20 lbs heavier. Brits are fine but Thailand seems to attract this type of monster. I was talking to the girl he was with previously and he was determined to pummel me. The lady that was the issue was very nice and got in between us and I somehow managed to wiggle out of the mess. THey go out every night hoping to smack the shttout of someone.

Well, they have to put their Muay Thai skills to use.

Bars are one of the most dangerous places in the world, almost as dangerous as being in a lion's cage in a zoo.

Mixing alcohol and competitiveness over girls is a recipe for getting killed.

Owner of a bar was being interviewed on Youtube said there's fights in there all the time, but he has a bunch of bouncers to handle it. And it often revolves around girls. One time he told the guy "why are you fighting over this girl? she's not even your girlfriend. she's a freelancer".

Not many people of any class go to Bang Saphan so there is unlikely to be much trouble.

My whole life I have never wanted to fight anyone. Yes, I've gotten in fights because of bad decisions or just bad luck but it was never my intention and always a reaction to violence. The jerks also know they have a huge advantage if they throw that first punch which I usually anticipate but not always.

This is true. Very few bars there and it is a few hours south of Hua Hin so most don't bother. Wonderful spot though.

Suure! They were drunk but it's legal cannabis' fault! 😂

I didn't say cannabis caused this incident. But legalising cannabis has attracted more wronguns to Thailand.

So you would hit a female then. You contradicted yourself in the same sentence.

The laws for a farang getting into a fight in Thailand might be quite strict.

Even if the other guy throws the first punch, at what point does self-defense turn into assault if you continue fighting back? Then you might be kicked out of the country.

Best to meditate before you leave the house and act like a monk out there and subjugate your ego.

Agree 100% but sometimes we can all do stupid things and let our egos take over. I personally like to think even when the fists start flying I am not capable of enjoying truly hurting someone. Foreigners here just like Thais don't like losing face.

Managed to never get into a fight yet in life. Plan on keeping it that way. I find violence truly abhorrent.

Growing up it was all around me. The city I come from is quite special that way... fighting was so common. Might be part of why I am this way.

Like many fights between westerners in the Pattaya prostitution bar scene, it's one gang of scum vs the other scumbags. Very harmful image for tourism to Thailand however.

Where are you getting this from? There's nothing to suggest this was any kind of gang fight. The German guy was just out having a drink with his GF when he was first verbally and then physically attacked by two drunk Brits, apparently due to the mere fact that he is German (they boasted about winning two world wars, and accused him of being a Nazi).
