Foreign Man Arrested After Bar Bill Dispute in Pattaya

A foreign man was arrested in Pattaya in the early hours of 4 May 2026 after allegedly refusing to pay for drinks and attempting to flee from officials, causing a public disturbance along the beachfront.

At 00.20, Pattaya special affairs officers and municipal enforcement staff were alerted by the owner of a drinks venue that a foreign customer had refused to settle his bill. Officers located the man and escorted him towards Pattaya City Police Station for further handling.

While approaching the road outside the station entrance, the man, who claimed to be Moroccan and aged 35, became agitated. He showed signs of intoxication, shouted loudly and refused to comply with officers, insisting they not touch him.

Officials attempted to calm the situation and bring him inside for discussion, but he resisted strongly. He shouted abuse at officers before breaking free and running towards Pattaya Beach.

Officers pursued and caught up with him near Soi 12 on Pattaya Beach, where he continued to resist arrest. A struggle lasting around 10 minutes ensued in the middle of the road, drawing the attention of numerous tourists, many of whom stopped to watch and record the incident.

Police patrol officers arrived to assist and attempted negotiation, but the man remained uncooperative. Officers were ultimately forced to restrain him, apply handcuffs and transport him back to Pattaya City Police Station after he began to quiet down.

During questioning, the man claimed he had already paid 1,000 baht for the drinks. However, a Thai woman identifying herself as the bar owner later filed a complaint stating the bill totalled more than 2,500 baht. At the station, the suspect continued to shout incoherently, prompting officers to detain him until he sobered up before proceeding with formal questioning and legal action.

The incident has drawn attention due to the public nature of the arrest in a busy tourist area, with multiple bystanders capturing video footage. Authorities are expected to review the case once the suspect is fit for questioning and verify the payment dispute.

A guy went off his head at the condo where I live last year and a couple off young BIB's attempted to arrest him. He slapped them around and the heavy weights where called and gave the guy a slapping that he'll never forget. I suppose this treatment was resumed when they got him back to the police station. He got what he deserved, some people have no idea of the fact that common sense is the better part of valor.

This guy should be deported and banned. If getting that much out of order when out drinking, it´s a sign he needs more of mothers milk.

On the other hand, what in the world are the officers doing? It´s just to put handcuffs on the guy and put him up in the car.

Lastely, Seriously, are they transporting the guy in a garbage truck? It looks like somebody left their construction equipment in the back of the pick-up.

Nah, that you put together and thought it was funny all by yourself. I didn´t even put it in the same sentence.

After that, again German? You have been a member here longer than me, and been here everyday. Don´t tell me, you missed everyone of my replies to all the members that think I am a German? Again, I am from Sweden. Also you have problem to read and comprehend. Where did you read or see Gottfried? That´s a German name. My name is Gottfrid, which is a Swedish name.

Forget the pickup, Thailand should invest in several rubber trucks, the padded ones.

Throw the fool in the back, lock the door, then straight to the asylum.

All by myself! I wish.. My GF doesn't get jokes about the war, I did try to explain to her! Did you ever try to put handcuffs on an unwilling participant, (just a guy even) ? I guess you have hence your comment!

The Pattaya police are well aware that should they get rough and body-slam a bonehead like this, it will be posted all over the internet within hours labeled as police brutality against tourists. The good thing here was the bar called the police and didn't call a squad of gangster/security guards to stomp the guy.

It would have been nice if he tripped on the stairs in the police station as sometimes happens.

This Bozo will be all Wais and smiles once he wakes up behind bars.

Actually, included in my military training. However, that has no relevance. We are talking about two officers and one unwilling and protesting drunken fool. Normal procedure, is to just put him down on his belly, hold a knee to his back while the other officer assist with putting the handcuffs on.

On the side of that??? Jokes about the war??? Is it a joke about the war, to call a non-German person funny for being a German? I think you missed both about jokes and how to handcuff somebody. Please, go ahead and tell us more that you need to have explained to you. I feel giving today.

The first two officials show trying to get him into the back of the pickup were not police officers and probably did not have handcuffs, that's why RTP officers were called and he was then handcuffed...

The traditional Thai police way is to try and de-escalate any situation first and usually it works. However, the new generation of munters that are infesting these shores aren't amenable to these time-served methods and go ballistic. The Pattaya and Phuket cops need to get a grip on this, and tazer, cuff and bag them quickly instead.

In general I don't approve of police brutality... in this case I would encourage it.

Sticking his chin in the cops face and shouting FU?

Deserves a baton to the head IMHO.

How the cop controlled himself is beyond my comprehension.

As far as nationality, there is a certain degree of being and A-hole that transcends nationality. To paraphrase Janet Jackson, "he is a part of the A-hole nation".

I have a Modest Proposal to make.

The Thai police are missing a great money-making opportunity there.

Just think of how many people who view the videos of these bad actors would pay for a pay-per-view (is that still a thing?) of seeing the cops give this guy some "physical education", by which I mean some sort of corrective instruction with physical contact for emphasis.

A good talking to accompanied by a thorough ass-kicking, but of course limited to something short of permanent damage or death.

Isn't there something about caning the soles of the feet?

I would pay to hear this tough guy beg for his mama.

When the military made their last coup here they had a program by the name of attitude adjustment. It was mainly against the student protesters and was considered to be harsh at the time. It might be appropriate right now given the amount of lame brain drug fueled p*ss heads behaving badly in Pattaya right now.
