Swiss man arrested over alleged Patong Beach sexual abuse

A Swiss national has been arrested in Phuket after allegedly sexually assaulting a 14-year-old boy in the sea off Patong Beach, police said. Officers are expected to take the suspect to Phuket Provincial Court, for detention proceedings, where they will appose bail.

The case was brought to public attention by Paweena Hongsakul, president of the Paweena Hongsakul Foundation for Children and Women, who travelled to Phuket on Tuesday 21 July 2026, to accompany the boy's mother in meetings with senior police and welfare officials.

The suspect has not been named publicly. He faces three charges: taking a child aged under 15 from a parent for indecent purposes; raping a child aged under 15; and committing an indecent act against a child aged under 15.

Alleged assault followed meeting on beach

According to the mother's account, the boy left his mother's workplace at about 2pm on 10 July to walk for exercise on a beach around 500 metres away. He reportedly met the foreign man, who asked to take a selfie, requested his address and added him on Line.

The man allegedly persuaded the boy to go swimming at Patong Beach, saying he would teach him to swim in the sea. The mother said the suspect then sexually assaulted the boy in the water, including by digitally penetrating him and touching his genitals.

Fearing he might be killed, the boy later returned to his mother in tears after she finished work, she said. She took him for a medical examination and reported the matter to Patong Police Station.

The suspect subsequently messaged the boy asking to meet again and sent him the photograph taken earlier, according to the account. The mother replied using her son's account, asking why he had penetrated him and touched his genitals. The man replied: "Did you like it?" and allegedly continued trying to persuade the boy to meet him.

She handed the messages to police as evidence.

Police seize phone and laptop

On 18 July, the mother said her son was stressed and that both feared for their safety because the man had asked for the boy's address. After searching for his name and finding that he held a respected job, she contacted the Paweena Foundation through its Facebook page.

Paweena then contacted Phuket provincial police commander Major General Sinlert Sukhum and Patong police chief Colonel Korkrit Khankhuea. The mother gave further evidence on 19 July.

Colonel Korkrit reported on 20 July that police had obtained an arrest warrant and detained the suspect. Officers seized a mobile phone and laptop, and said they found photographs of the boy.

Protection plans if bail is granted

At Tuesday's meeting, Paweena, Major General Sinlert and Colonel Korkrit were joined by officials from Phuket's justice, social development and child-and-family services. They discussed protection and support for the boy should the suspect be released on bail, amid concerns that he could interfere with the case.

Paweena said other potential child victims could report abuse to police, the Social Development and Human Security Ministry, or her foundation. The foundation can be contacted on 063-2377327, 098-4788991, 081-8901355, 081-8140244, or hotline 1134.

I guess this kind of thing is absolutely impossible for those of us with relatively healthy minds to comprehend. With so many ready, willing and able women in Pattaya, why on earth would anybody attack a young boy?

We must be looking at some very seriously twisted wiring in that completely lost soul.

I have an immediate dislike for this sick pervert. What's with this bright blue shower resistant anorak and white mask. IMHO this outfit screams "guilty"!

Another Swiss person in the news, here's hoping he won't be treated as lightly as doctor kicking "Swiss David".

Some like to control, which rape is, and prefer boys instead of women. You cannot comprehend it as your mind is normal in thinking, as neither can most of us. Predators are among us and some live next door, which is why we need to trust no one and protect out children from these social outcasts, and place them where they belong.

Past research has discovered that both men and women engage in actual penetrative sex with the opposite sex (husband and wife... male female partners not yet married) but never reveal that during sex act they are thinking about sex with own sex or with underage.

It's complex.

A different actual example, a family where the whole family (father mother, 3 sons and 2 daughters) regularly engage in various sexual acts (incest) and at interview they all have no hesitation to say things which promote their love of sex: mother snd son, mother and 2 sons, father and daughter and son etc., and regularly set up repeats with the groups of partners all willing and ready and on questionng they see nothing wrong at all. It happens.

The home is where all this starts. if your parents were unstable, abusive, neglective or absent, you don't have a good start in life Then many go out into the world with preconceived notions of how mating should occur, and some are deviants.

There will always be these types, as the home life is hard to escape from with normal thinking if it wasn't there.

Homosexual encounters between those old enough to understand what they're doing, legally, isn't the problem. Control over another is.

This was illegal ,rape, and control and he should be put into a place where he can't repeat this behavior, as he likely also learned it when he was young, and it's ingrained. Hopefully the boy gets past this, knowing he wasn't at fault and was just another victim of a sick predator.

I think you will find that that is the victim, not the accused.

Yes, I stand corrected. The photo was taken at the office of Phuket's justice, social development and child-and-family services. No need for the sick pervert to be present.

A long time ago I had a similar case- outwardly the parents appeared perfectly "normal", and certainly not what any person would describe as out of the ordinary - but behind closed doors they were clearly very twisted sick people

The way people get away with so many twisted, sick and perverted things is to act normal in public. This is how most of the serial killers were able to ply their trade.

They lived next door to people who thought they "were okay". He mows his yard, helped me with removing a tree, says hi to me and my children, community leader, law student, worked in a chocolate factory, act as a clown, political volunteer, have a construction company with references and spoke fluently and soft spoken.

Internationalrelations insights

Absolutely right- the people I dealt with appeared outwardly as "pillars of society" - helped at church, local charities and so on- yet behind closed doors they were monsters hiding in plain sight

Thing is, even the perverts know the damage it does to kids despite saying they 'love them'.

Why the hell would you want to do that kind of damage to a young kid?

At least he felt able to tell his mam. He'll get the support he needs to deal with it.

I know there's a factor called 'victim perpetrator identification'. As I understand it it means the only way a former victim of child abuse can overcome the overwhelming feelings of helplessness and shame as a result of the abuse, is to act out the powerful part of the perp. It restores their sense of power and banishes the feelings of victimhood - for a while, till the next time.
