Visa Exempt after 3 back to back SETVs?

Featured Replies

Hello all.

Could anyone please give me some advice?

I've been in Thailand for almost one year now. I have:

British PP

1 visa exempt + extension (left after two weeks into extension)

2 SETV Yangon + extensions

1 SETV Penang + extensions

I am currently in Hong Kong but the Thai consulate here is asking for a bank statement for my fourth SETV, which I don't really want to provide. I have a large amount in savings and I transfer a little over to my current account each month. As of today I can only provide an online statement of my current account from the past 3 months in which I only keep about 1K-2K GBP at a time. I wouldn't be able to show a statement for my savings account.

Anyhow this might not satisfy the IO at the HK consulate and I just don't want to deal with the hassle anymore.

My question is would I be able to get back into Thailand on a visa exempt with my history?

Thanks for your consideration.

Since is does no appear you have done several visa exempt entries before you should not have a problem getting one.

@ubonjoe Yes that's correct. I only have the one visa exempt on my very first arrival to Thailand last year.

Thank you for the advice and quick response ubonjoe!

Fwiiw, I am pretty sure 1-2K GBP in your current account would be sufficient to satisfy the Hong Kong consulate. How old are you? Until recently, I do not think Hong Kong was asking for financial proof to issue tourist visas.

1-2K is enough to satisfy the requirements, if i'm not mistaken the requirement is 20,000 Baht or the equivalant (sp) in any currency on a  bank statement

you should be ok, but i would get the visa. what is the big deal? 1k-2k GBP is absolutely plenty of money.

youll get the tourist visa. bigger issue is getting back into thailand with immigration accepting the visa. just because you have a visa doesnt guarantee entry. come armed with 20k baht, accomodation, flight, etc

@BritTim I'm 37 years old. Yeah I had thought Hong Kong would be fairly easily? Just spend a week to ten days here. Chill, enjoy the sights, get my visa and go back to Thailand.

@darrendsd & @at15 The most recent online statement that is available for me to download is back from May 2017. I understand what you guys are saying but I'll just lose my cool if they start giving me crap about the statement is not recent enough.

I figured just go back on an exemption and apply for the Thai Elite Visa. I had already contacted Thai Elite before I left this time around and the process seems fairly easy and straight forward. In fact I would apply from Hong Kong to avoid the visa exemption hassle but I have to get back by the 15th of September to pay my rent.

Thanks all for the responses. Very much appreciated.

You could email the embassy directly to see if May is recent enough. Not sure what HK's exact policy is, but I have heard that some embassies would even accept an ATM receipt showing the balance.
