The Thai woman at the center of a much talked about marriage fraud case was arrested in Nakon Pathom last night.

Jariyaporn Buayai, 32 - also known as Nammon or previously reported as Porn - from Loei province had been named in a complaint filed with police earlier in the week by top lawyer Songkan Atchariyasap on behalf of around one dozen men.

They said they were conned into marriage and out of dowries amounting to some 3 million baht.

Earlier yesterday a woman called Soiphet Phaleewan, 27, and her boyfriend had gone to investigating police to show their innocence in the matter. Jariyaporn had been using the woman's name in her fraud.

Following this at 8.30 pm yesterday Jariyaporn was arrested by Crime Suppression Division police in Krathum Lom sub-district of Sampran, Nakon Pathom.

A news conference where more details will be given is scheduled for 11am today, said Thai Rath.

Sorry, but I have no sympathy for anyone here. Just a bunch of headless chickens thinking that money somehow equates to happiness and love. Regardless of culture and tradition, once you find yourself sat down with your bride-to-be's parents negotiating money, you have to ask yourself, "what am I doing? What does this all mean?".

How exactly does one get "conned" into marriage? You either have a hard on for the girl or you don't.

As for being ripped off, well if they are looking for sympathy, I doubt they will find much on this forum.

According to Thai facebook rumors she actually married up to 30 men, 12 or 13 sounds more likely though.

Her parents attended every wedding and now claim that they had no idea that she was doing a con! :shock1:

I usually negotiate directly with the lady herself, and insist it's only a one-night kind of deal.

I don't pay for the sex. I pay for them to leave.

It remains to be seen if you can blame those con artist for taking the chances offered.

Not all of them had nails, most had needles and some had thumb tacks.

How much did you pay in the end?

These women are turning the scamming of men into an industry.

Just like the Nigerian money scams, they know there will always be idiots that will fall for their charms. It`s all very simple; once money starts to get mentioned, run for the hills.

Charlie Sheen rip off .

Yes, most people know it's a Charlie Sheen quote. If I thought they didn't, I'd be making myself look like a whore monger.

caveat emptor; goes for locals and foreigners alike. if you're someone who needs to pay (buy) in order to get a gf/bf, wife/husband be sure of what you're paying for before parting with any cash

Actually this case is quite interesting.

Does this mean that when Farlang men get duped by Thai women into financially supporting them or regularly sending large sums of money on the pretence that these women are in a relationship with them, that the men can file criminal charges against these sleazy bints?

I'm assuming Charlie Sheen blagged it from Cary Grant, as I heard this quote from him long before Sheen was ever associated with it. It supposedly dates back much earlier in any event, having also been accredited to Errol Flynn.
