If the Junta is smart, they will go for an election early next year (A BIG "if").

The Reds are leaderless, and Thai politics needs a person to rally around. Any "Red" leader is going to need some time to build a following.

The Dems are a "cockroach" party, but they are the only large party that is established, with a leader, and with buckets of money. They are going to win a lot of seats, perhaps even the largest number. And they might be able to claim a democratic mandate to govern.

The scenario above is possible. The question is whether the "Greens" will let them.

Prayut will have constitutional absolute power via Article 44 throughout the election process and until a new government is installed (by royal decree I believe). So he will have plenty of opportunity for "whatever" as he calls it.

Gosh, hasn't Mark put the pounds on! He must weigh about 15 stone now.

No disrespect but wouldn't it be great if he and Suthep could flee politics in Thailand as well so we all can have a fresh start next year.

The sooner the General leaves the lime light the better too. Mission complete.

Can we now reboot, refresh and get on with a new Thailand with a new elected government. It may it be run by invisible hands, who cares, time to move on me thinks.

They are still around and many are still justifying the military on tv also.

Way down in numbers, I imagine. Where I live is a yellow / green stronghold - or at least it was.

3 years later, I everyone is complaining about being skint, sick of junta TV and now are worried that they will no longer even be able to afford a drink or a smoke to soften their troubles. In short they are sick of the junta and feel as though they have been sold down the river.

Who knows? Perhaps one day we will see the Red / Yellow split metamorphosising into a People v State divide. Now THAT could turn really ugly...

Gee I do get a real laugh out of this endless discussion....the Thaksin lovers...the Yellow lovers......none of you will be able to vote anyway!!!

All it seems to do is to show peoples backgrounds in all their dirty glory.

It is easy to imagine so many Thaksin lovers were shop stewards in a previous life 'back ome' whose sole purpose was to bring down the 'bastards' and in the process send the company broke and put all the 'comrades' out of work.

Then grab the pension, come to Thailand and bring their bitterness with them.

Then continue to spew their hatred of anyone with any view that differs from their own.

I can imagine the coffee clutch of bitter old men sitting at the many bars whining and bitching, encouraging each other in your loneliness and eventually realising that you have wasted your life fighting the unwinnable fight and fading away without achieving a thing.

A life lost.

So sad.

But there is always ThaiVisa where people will still listen to you.

Hahaha

He only became PM in the first place due to a deal engineered by the military to partner him up with Newin thus avoiding an election and seeking the publics opinion. The hypocricy of this man is breathtaking.

He long ago established his credentials as a man who says the right things but does the wrong things.

The only line of your post that makes any sense.

ThaiVisa is an internet forum, and a very good one. Internet forums are places where people exchange info, ideas and opinions. Much the same as other places where people meet to shoot the breeze. No need to get so bitter and twisted about it. Humans are social animals, don't you know?

Thanks for the question. Some humans are sociable, yes...some are animals I agree.

I am not bitter and twisted in the slightest degree of that I can assure you'

Agree about shooting the breeze etc. Hopefully that is what i have done.

Some may disagree with my opinion...others may not.

In many ways it seems that your post describes yourself accurately!
Except of course, given that it was made around 2 a.m. Thai time one presumes that you have yet to make it here to " lose your life" and join the "clutch of bitter old men" spewing hatred.
Still, never mind, there is always Thai Visa for that...
