webfact Posted September 18, 2017 Posted September 18, 2017 Hell for residents just got worse as crane collapses at Pattaya condo development Picture: Daily News PATTAYA: -- Life for residents living next to a big condo development just went from hell to something worse after a crane collapsed on the roof. Locals in Soi Wat Bunkanchanaram have been unable to sleep properly for two years while the 24 story development makes life a stressful misery. But when a crane collapsed on the roof - and the seven workers responsible scarpered - masonry and metal came raining down on their houses. On Sunday residents led by 55 year old Chuchart Deenan filed complaints with Pattaya police against the builders. Picture: Daily News Chuchart said life had been a misery for him and his neighbors never knowing what next was going to fall off the building and being unable to sleep properly. They were all suffering stress as well as damage to their property. And to make matters worse things are now in limbo. The Pattaya authorities have called a temporary end to construction while the collapsed crane situation is sorted out. Source: Daily News -- © Copyright Thai Visa News 2017-09-18

webfact Posted September 18, 2017 Author Posted September 18, 2017 Pattaya residents still being treated shoddily in wake of condo crane collapse Picture: TNews PATTAYA: -- Furious Pattaya residents who have complained about an allegedly noisy and dangerous condo development continue to suffer. In more trouble they have slammed the development. In a latest report from Tnews residents said that engineers from the company building the twin structures in Soi Wat Bunkanchanaram arrived unannounced to do repairs to damaged house roofs. Residents are now worried that their properties may be further at risk from theft by unscrupulous repairmen. They feel they should have at least been telephoned that men were coming to do repairs. They claimed that no communication was made. On Sunday the residents led by Chuchart Denan had gone to Pattaya police to complain about falling masonry and disturbance over a two year period. Things came to a head when a crane collapsed on the 24th floor due to what appears operator negligence, said Tnews. Seven workers fled the scene creating more confusion and worry for the residents. Engineers from Pattaya have today called for building to stop as the problem with the crane is sorted and residents' concerns are addressed. Source: TNews -- © Copyright Thai Visa News 2017-09-18

TallGuyJohninBKK Posted September 18, 2017 Posted September 18, 2017 Thai urban planning at its best. Permit twin 24 story condo buildings right in the midst of closely adjoining single story homes. It is Pattaya, after all!

Deez Posted September 18, 2017 Posted September 18, 2017 Out of curiosity , I wonder how much it costs to "buy off" officials to bypass any safety measures? Serious question!

Its more like the absence of preventive safeguards. They must have complained about it in the past, but the drastic nature of events in the present time will force some action. Luckily no loss of life despite a crane coming down.
murraynz Posted September 18, 2017 Posted September 18, 2017 two cranes were recently removed from 30 story orion condo at cosy beach--work stopped after only 5 levels... who knows what is happening here ???? another broke developer?? these buildings soon become an eye-sore.
