Sorry, but it is some years since I stayed in Kuala Lumpur, so I cannot make any hotel recommendations.

Please do let us know how your visa application in Kuala Lumpur goes. For a couple of years, it was considered a bad place to apply, but there are indications they have eased up recently. Your input will help us to judge whether that is really the case.

I have stayed at the Pudu Plaza Hotel and have never been disappointed. It is walking distance to both the LRT and the IMBI monorail station (maybe 10 minutes) and is in a very vibrant Chinese / Malaysian community.

If you don't want to do anything and just need a bed for the night, the Tune Hotel right by the terminal is the easiest option. It's clean and the staff are pleasant, and there's a 7/11 right next door. About 3-5 minutes along a covered walkway from the terminal at which you land.

EDIT: If you mean you are planning to go to the embassy/consulate, that's not a good choice of course.

Yeah...if you want something close to the embassy only for visa run purposed...just google map it and pick any reasonably priced guesthouse....1 night certainly does not warrant too much thought

Can you ask if they also do METVs according to what they are stating on their website for nationals of non listed countries without residence proof and if they accept Thai bank statemement?

I would be really interested to know the answer to that.

Can you provide a link to that. It is the first I have heard of such a thing, and it would be astonishing if true.

It's been there for a year this checklist, I did ask this question on a different thread at the time but it seems nobody attempted it so far.

Only the one for listed countries has a residency requirement.

The one for listed countries clearly states:

Qualification: Applicant must reside in Malaysia, not being a temporary visitor.

Listed countries:

The one for non listed countries doesn't, therefore implying temporary visitors from non listed countries can apply for METV.

This on that checklist might be an indication you would have to be Malaysian or a resident.

7. The applicant’s recent bank statement (last 6 months) certified by the bank. The bank account should have a minimum monthly balance of RM30,000 for individual applicant or RM50,000 for group/family applicants.

I see no equivalent mentioned for other currencies.

The only way to get an answer seems to be asking them about it.

Unless they take an equivalent of that certified by a Thai Bank. The official guideline is 200K baht over 6 months. In that case it would potentially work.

Hard to ask them, my feeling is they may not pick up or respond emails but maybe I will try.

Would not take the financial risk myself to travel there to find out the answer to that question ,  had a bad experience on SETV back in 2014, although things appeared to have changed. So maybe people travelling there can help enquire.

Chinatown boutique about 1,000 baht nice food and drink plus the market to keep you busy, easy to go from pasar seni rail link to ampang park station then its a couple of minutes walk straight up the road to the embassy. Take thre airport bus to sentral then you catch the monorail to pasar seni station and your right in chinatown.
