coldcrush Posted January 10, 2007 Posted January 10, 2007 Fly into Udon thani mear to Nong Khai or Sakon Nakon to ride buffalo and many more, quite a good location to drift around from Udon. The choice is yours.... Talking of Belguim, just read a book by Bill Bryson - Neither here nor there, about his travels around europe...good read...I like be irrelevant to!
Briggsy Posted January 10, 2007 Posted January 10, 2007 Drive from Aranyaprathet in Sra Kaew province. Go north through Ta Phraya. The fields are verdant are well tended. The farm machinery is fairly modern. The roads are surprisingly good. The people have a relaxed yet purposeful look as they go about their work. As you leave Sra Kaew province you'll find yourself going up through a steep cutting. You might think you are climbing up to the Khorat plateau but you are in fact on the magic pathway to planet Esaan. It's only a few kms but... Upon arrival in Non Din Daeng, Buri Ram, the land takes on a parched and dry look. Pot holes appear in the road. People wear funny hats and speak in a mixture of Khmer and Laos. They wander around with a dazed look as if not quite sure what they intended to do. A large increase in the number of catapults can be seen as a more foraging culture is apparent. Daffy, if you are a loss with what to do with yourself one day. Just continually drive back and forth on this route. You will notice new things every time. It's past my beer time.
gburns57au Posted January 10, 2007 Posted January 10, 2007 Start from Nakhon Ratchasima...the gateway to the North East.....go north to where the border of Laos, China and Thailand meet....go south to the point where the Cambodian border no longer joins the Thai Border.... anything on the away from the Bangkok side of these lines.....this is Issan Country.
JimsKnight Posted January 10, 2007 Posted January 10, 2007 North-Eastern Thailand that borders Laos. Start from Korat and your at the edge of Issansville. Typically the homeland of the Bargirl!
