Please show the proper respect as there is a good chance that this is not your country.

this is a great moment for thailand in a time where world records being broken is the type of thing it needs.

For this record to be taken by a Thai is good and it is in the hands of a Great Fisherman.

just for the record Team Kiwi has 8 members, but only has one White guy, you see him in the picture............. Thats me.

now these coments lead me to the question of; the people that are hijacking this thread, do you in anyway work in or for the tour industry?

Read my post above pal.You are advertising on a commercial site.Spring some bucks pal.Nothing is for free in this world.Don't care what industry you are in or how many other people that are not pakeha are in your wee group. What makes you any different than any other person on this board that does not advertise their tour industry jobs. There are plenty of them too.

here is a thought for the moderators

this thread would have been a good thread for you to be putting out on the emails, as you are going to be 12 hours ahead of any other media release, we didnt want to stop fishing! but it just looks nasty now, not a nice place to post something if you get, this type of reaction!

now that could have gernerated a lovely amout of hits on this site and a nice news story and that is great for the webpage and even better for the advertising, as the hits on your page is what people look at, but with the members posting's it would be a STUPID investment to make, to pay money to this site to advertise here untill the members learn respect!

RESULT: your negitive posting keep advertisers away!!! this was happening before I came and will happen after I go.

love the postings keep them coming!!! with International Records come International Plonkers!!!!

hey this thread might just take off and you could be famous!!!

I am aware of PM's being sent, that had a racist comment.

now anyone that comes fishing with me and wants to brag how much of a good day they have had thats fine by me, but they should not get cr@p because they are saying good things about my company in a thread they have started.

you dont like it dont read it anymore! leave us in peace, you do not have to do the job of the moderators, thats what they are here for! PM them and let them do there job.

because your sales pitch for Thaivisa is not the best!! I would have though maybe giving some stats and talking numbers would have been a better way do deal with things.

lol

I live in a Thai World where I am respected as one of the best in the world at catching Giant Mekong Delta Catfish, I was taught by the Thai's so I think it is funny that you should attempt to lable me like that!!!

Everybody knows that if you are not respected in this country you have all the doors closed in your face.

but if you are respected then it opens up many doors, you do not get to run a business out of one of the best fishing spots in asia without being respected. a show of a person is to look at the people he calls friends and to look at the respect given to them by professionals, if you knew about the fish and the place you would know the faces in the pictures, you do not!

If you did know the faces in the pictures then you would not be so silly to put up postings as you have.

This type of person was the reason I left NZ and moved to Thailand, sad to find them here, even sadder to have this chat here with someone from NZ!! BUT.......

with international records come international plonkers!

Wowser!

:o

OK, I'm not gonna go through the whole thread. This world record fish, was it raised and fed in captivity then 'shot in a barrel'?

Thai can hold world records just like everybody else. But when it comes to fishing for sport, one would imagine the sportsman should go looking for the fish in the wild, not in a fish farm?

I refer to the original posting...

To the Kiwi fella (mark wasnt it?)

Well done on the record what a monster...

To the OP you obviously had a ball so good on ya for posting and spinning the age old fishing tales yarn........it was this big..... :D I have enjoyed reading your fishing tales and have not been surprised by the reaction from some on this board....

To the rest that have been having a pop at this obviously exited guy, whats wrong with some one raving about good experience....My wife will even go there with me ....why because she can see the facilitys are there and clean thanks to toilet picture...

I used to love fishing in the uk ...have done a bit in the gulf mainly on wrecks and have loved it I will be trying the freshwater stuff around BKK soon to.

I will probably try to hook up with the Kiwiw fella who obviously knows his stuff.

As for the question is it an advert or just the board working to show Expats like myself whats hot and whats not....personally I feel its the latter.

People have been gawping at the mentioned price of 10,000bht ,this is big fishing. In the uk as a carp fisherman I had to wait 3 years to join a carp fishing lake 8 mths fishing (not inc of gear or bait ) was 1500 British pounds per year.......The local park lake was free but the fun was small tiddlers and the odd shopping trolley...

As for the whole shooting fish in a barrell reminds me of a single guy getting dressed up and then......heading to a whole street of girly bars to meet a new girlfriend, each to their own :o

So kiwi fella as long as the beers cold and the fish r biting I look forward to seeing you.....If the op is there all the better as its often fun to watch someone wet themselves with exitment....

now wheres my wellies?

If you are referring to my PMs then you are lost and foolish, I am totally NOT a racist, if you check the context of my POST(not email) then you too will see that my question was perfectly respectable

GROW UP, ALOHATIGER AND STOP GOING ON LIKE A F******G <deleted> OK

I asked a few simple honest questions and you have totally taken offense to them, that is not MY problem mate, it is clearly yours.

I have a question that has been on my mind for a couple of years.

Do you get to eat the fish after you have caught it?

I mean, for me half the enjoyment of fishing is cranking up the barbie after a good days fishing, crackin a tinny and cooking up your fish.

I have checked out several websites that run this kind of show but I cannot find anywhere that says you can cook the fish there or whether you take it home.

I do not think I would go if I couldn't eat it after I caught it.

Can you?

Lets get this back on topic, ie fishing in Bangkok, without flaming or excessive self-promotion, thanks

It clearly has been self-promo here and in other threads as well all along.

I have asked a similar question and never got an answer...

The place is a fishfarm, the world records get bigger as people catch the same <deleted>' fish over and over.

The giant Mekong catfish is an endangered species. It shouldn't even be allowed to catch them over and over the way they do for profit.

How about a safari where you get to shoot tigers and other endangered species over and over with tranquilizer darts ? :o

here are some reply's to some statements.

shooting fish in a barrel,

it the world record was that easy then the 8 companies that fish there would have taken that record over the last three years, but it was not broken, there must have been over 10,000 people fish there over that time and nobody has broken it untill now.

that makes for 10,000 people plus the professional guides really bad shoots and by the looks of It they couldnt even hit the barrel!

world records are not easy, If anyone feels they can beat it then I will weigh there fish for free and I will pay for the IGFA costs, so there you go it wont cost you to regester your World Record, now to "those" people go and catch a bigger fish.

so you can talk the talk, the challange has been put forward now its time to walk the walk.

thats what world records are about, they are a standard, if you say it is a walk in the park then you better back it up with a new world record.

that is a interesting point. where does the money come from to run the breeding and Mekong Delta restocking program that the goverment has for the Giant Mekong Delta Catfish?

it comes from the pay lakes buying fish!!! so this is a great example of the fishermen and comercial Business both protecting the species, also it is the stocks in lakes like this that give us a reserve of fish, they are a DNA bank, as there are some old fish in these lakes.

now you dont get to eat these ones, but you can eat some of the other species, at a cost of 35bht a kilo I think we catch some of the little fish there (sorry dont know the name) and then send them off to be cooked and have a good dinner!

but as a rule it is catch and release.

HOW BIG ARE THE FISH IN BUNG SAM RAN?

to big to catch! they have Giant Mekong Delta catfish in there that are thought to be well over 200kg, and they are classed as uncatchable!!!!!!!! I agree with this, look back over the years and you see good fish in old photos, and those fish have only grown bigger!

there is no known way to catch these fish on a rod!!!! the lake record only stands at 100kg, half the size of the big fish!!! so all the people and all the professionals cant catch anything over 100kg, but they are double that.

HOW GOOD IS THE CHALLANGE?

if you go and fish the middle of the lake for the little ones, there is only 20 - 30 kg babies, after a while not much challange!

But if you take some serious Big Game Gear, then the challange is BIG! fish to big to catch? none landed over 100kg!

the people who slag Bung Sam Ran, I say have never fished the lake for the BIG FISH nore did they take Big Game gear!!!!

Im running a Shimano TLD25 spooled with 50lb line on a Big Game rod with shoulder rigged stand up fighting gear, ITS NOT BIG ENOUGH!!!!

I am looking at a TLD50 spooled with 100lb line with a Game Chair, as the fish are TOO BIG! I have been trashed many times and I use one of the biggest reels there!

I dont care where it was raised or how, I just like the idea of fish to big to catch, that is a nice challange in this world as most of the time it is a challange just to find a fish in the wild! how many days can you spend on a boat looking for the fish? alot of the time the fish just are not in the sea any more due to overfishing! NOT HERE!

IF THIS FISHING IS EASY THEN PLEASE TELL ME HOW TO CATCH A 200KG GIANT MEKONG DELTA CATFISH AT BUNG SAM RAN AS PEOPLE HAVE BEEN TRYING FOR OVER 20 YEARS TO DO IT!

I have had to design a new style of fishing at Bung Sam Ran just to break the 3 year standing world record, it works!

but now I am having to work on another style to hook up and land the REALY REALY BIG ONES. That means I am having to design and build a Portable Fighting Chair, did any of you out there ever hook a fish big enough to use a fighting chair? I have but I didnt have the chair it was at Bung Sam Ran, it thrashed me!! totaly un-controlable, that was with one of the biggest rigs at the lake, the problem being that I am at the limit for the stand up fighting gear, with the next jump in reel size you just have to use a fighting chair!!!! But thats ok it coming over from New Zealand soon!! We have one in the shed back home so I will add a folding base to it.

WORLD RECORDS ARE MENT TO BE BROKEN SO STOP LIPPING OFF ON THE INTERNET AND GO AND LAND A WORLD RECORD FISH AT BUG SAM RAN IF YOU THINK YOU ARE SO GOOD AND IT IS THAT EASY.

I will supply all the kit needed and the bait for the day and off you go, BUT if you dont land a World Record Fish then you pay me my standard days rate BECAUSE I WILL CHARGE THAT IF YOU FORCE ME TO WATCH YOU FAIL!

TIME TO PUT THE MONEY WHERE THE MOUTH IS!

My company and a VERY experienced fisherman have just set a pending World Record, BREAK IT PLEASE!!!
