If so, the dead biker’s tombstone can read “The guy who opened his car door killed me, but hey I was in the right!”

Irrespective of what country, the experienced rider WHO WANTS TO LIVE will always anticipate that the door of EVERY parked car is about to open and adjust his or her speed and/or distance from car accordingly.

RIP Ms Benjaporn.

Don't matter much does it  -  when you are on any two wheeled vehicle you automatically lose irregardless of who was in the right.  A neighbor of mine rode into a  hole in the middle of a well travelled street here in Pattaya, (just big enough to swallow the front wheel) he spent six days in the hospital, but you can bet your sweet buttocks DOT will not pay him a single satang for his injuries or his Motorbike.  They dug the hole and didn't put up any barriers that night, are they at fault??  He's lucky to be alve.

Small comfort for deceased’s family.

Charging the driver won’t bring back the bike rider.

Bile riders who want to survive need to keep well away from parked car’s doors, regardless of who the laws says will be charged.

yep. i learned the hard way, hitting a car door at full speed on my bicycle many decades ago, i can still see the bicycle going without me for quite some distance.

It seems a really common occurrence, the car drivers should be more careful at opening the door, some of them seem to be unaware that there are human beings on motorbikes and bicycles.

I didn't say it was a comfort for the family, or that it would bring her back, why are you addressing that to me?

You said that the “driver had been charged with the bike riders’s death , plain and simple. “

My reply to you inferred that if the bike rider had kept clear of parked car doors, no accident would have occurred.

Yes, I said that in reply to someone who suggested that opening the door on another road user wasn't an offence in Thailand.

I know what your reply meant, I'm puzzled as to why you addressed it to me as I had made no comment about it.

I am amazed it does not happen more often.....
Seeing so many car drivers forget to look back....TIT

I saw that in Holland they teach drivers to open the right side door with their left hand so that they automatically are looking backwards. But first, they must teach Thais to drive!
