I don't care if it's one or five million WE helped, to all of you who donated and to the original informant well done, we can give ourselves a pat on the back.

I hope this turns out to be a  success story.

A bit strange they edited it from 5 to 1 million...

What does it matter if it was changed?

Only thing that matters is the poor man and his daughter are getting desperately needed help.

This case shows that at least there are still some caring people around prepared to help others in need.

cranky has spoken and raised some money at the same time. which kind of tight bugger would refuse. you have a working man left unable to work and left to try and survive with a kid daughter. pretty sure the guy feels horrible about that. must be heartbreaking but there's no safety net here. oh, visa forum members can have a good moan about all the things that are wrong with the place we have chosen as home and i for one love to but cranky colin makes a point that we do care about this place in the same way that nearly all the people here care about us. thai people do on the most part care. not a protectionist just telling it how i see it. today is a sad day but go outside and do something worthwhile for someone less fortunate. RIP teacher and Father. You will be sorely missed

I contributed at what would be the cost of a good night out, so what if  they have raised 1  or 5 million the girl is 12 has been taking care of dad for 5 years already and has a long way to go. Whaatever amount is raised she deserves , some people saying oh that's too much, please. For those bashing Thai I say this--have known 2 guys who married bar girls and are still happily married in USA with their Thai wife and not ripped off, when I had a heart attack my neighbors came and carried me to wife's car so she could rush me to hospital (too much pain could not wait for ambulance) When walking or jogging even some time in the rain have had Thai (guys or girls) stop on motorbikes and said get on I said no I ok --they said no have to pay I told them I just exercising. They did not even know me were not neighbors just saw an old guy on the road they thought needed help. So if the girl gets 1  or 25 million I contributed and hope maybe she could use some of it to get into a good school or better home for both of them, don't begrudge that the poor girl has money now thanks to the kindness of others.  A reward for her kindness and devotion to dad.

I am deeply suspicious of anything involving requests for money in Thailand. Far too many scams and scammers.

A poor girl and her paralyzed father desperately needed help.

Now getting help from many people, someTV members kindly donated money, and you are prattling on about  scammers.

Shame on you, my wife checked it out, it is 100% genuine, if you have been following thiss thread, i have clearly stated it is genuine.

You are entirely welcome to your opinion of me and I'll try not to lose any sleep over it, though I dont quite see why you find it necessary to insult me for expressing a general opinion.

Either way, it wont change the simple fact that there are more scams in this country (perpetrated by persons of all skin colours) than one can shake a stick at. I doubt that you or your wife could spot them all, any more than I or anyone else could. The way the quoted figure changed from 5MB to 1MB is precisely why I trust no one here. I've seen it all far too many times before.

Sad fact is there are just as many scammers in the UK and every other country in the world, but you choose only to notice scams here.

Hey fellas, this has been a happy thread with all of us feeling good about ourselves for doing something good for another.

Let us not let our cynical nature surface, I know this is TV but for once stop being negative.

I couldn't give a damn if it is a scam, I feel good , so to hell with cynicism.

Have a good day everyone..

I just asked my wife to read both posts, she says that the quote above does not mean that they have only collected 1,000,000 baht, it means that instead of giving an exact total they have opted to say it is more than one million. I have no clue, the only Thai sign that I can read is a for sale sign. In any case, at the rate she is earning money it would take her 30 years to make one million baht. Well done to all the members and all the Thai people that opened their hearts and their wallets.

I hope someone helps the father ,  let an expert look at him and see if there is anyway to help him ,

Whatever way you make the fathers life better will help the daughter  too ,

We're just asking for an update that's all , this should be a success story for the whole family who can get out of poverty and the father will hopefully get professional help from the best doctors in Thailand.

I seriously doubt that there are as many scammers and liars there as here though there surely are some. But that aside I live here not in the UK, and I havent lived in the UK for more than 40 years. For that reason alone I don't comment about the UK, nor do I follow what happens there very closely.

Wife is in contact with the people helping them, and i will do my best to keep members here informed about what is happening.

Sad fact is the man is paralyzed the same as me, and there is nothing anyone can do to change that.

I have winches fitted over my bed and outside, to help me get in the pickup, on my mobility scooter, and we have sent photos of these so maybe a local; engineer can fit something similar for him, so at least he can get in his wheelchair with assistance of only 1 person ( no lifting involved).

So did you make a donation ?

Or are you posting on this thread for other reasons.

Occasionally, we come across stories like this one that touch a nerve. For obvious reasons it did so with Co,in and he has understandably encouraged our support of this unfortunate family - to see the burden lifted of the child would be enough to persuade me to chip in..

There must be thousands of families in Thailand who are in need of some support, but this one has received attention because of media involvement. I can’t help all worthy causes but. I am content to give focus to this one - I think it was Naam who said, it also makes you feel bl00dy good!

Next week my missus will no doubt take several opportunities to tamboon at the local Wat. Nothing against what she does but I feel that the saffron-robed crowd get enough. I have suggested that she may wish to channel her honorable intentions towards this family’s specific cause. Should she decide to do so I will double what she donates.

This is in no way  intended to make this a peeing competition- that would be totally wrong - it is more of an attempt to encourage my partner to think about a specific needy cause rather than contribute to coffers that are probably full enough already
