Translation of text on picture: Mad Chinese woman in the middle of South Pattaya Hits traffic cop - child

A Chinese woman was arrested after video footage from a massage shop showed her reversing into a traffic cop then hitting a child on the back of a motorcycle.

The child ended up in hospital with a broken rib.

The short clip shows the woman - Ghen Xu, 36 - reversing at speed as traffic cop Ton Leekthalay, 33, reasons with her with the car door open.

He is nearly thrown to the ground as the driver revs and collides with two people on a motorcycle who come off.

The Chinese woman was chased and arrested further up the road in South Pattaya.

The cop told Manager that she has been charged with dangerous driving and her car has been confiscated for inspection.

The victim on the motorbike had a broken rib and was being treated at Bangkok Hospital.

Insurance said they would pay for the hospital bills.

Ton added that the woman had got mad after attempts had been made to tow her car as it was parked illegally.

The short video was posted on the Facebook page of "Prang Chamaithip" with the tagline 'bad behavior at South Pattaya'.

More than 20,000 people shared the latest road rage.

This shows everything that is wrong with road usage in Thailand. She thinks she can park wherever she wants, can drive away knocking others down with impunity and will probably get a piss poor fine with a couple of wai's thrown in. Only when this sort of antosocial behaviour is rewarded with significant jail time, are we ever likely to see improvements in peoples driving behaviour here.

Why?  Thai insurance companies are mad.  Do they not have any shareholders?  My company; Thannachart, paid out huge sums for medical expenses; compensation; a new faster bike to two under-age, speeding, licenceless tearaways who smashed into my stationary car. The bent cop took a further cut.

If that was her driving test, she would have passed with flying colours.

Showing all the credentials necessary to join the other millions of incompetent drivers on the roads here ! :clap2:

I would have this idiot in jail for attempted murder

& amazingly the cop did nothing (like drawing his gun) as the woman was attempting to seriously injure him & then went on to injure others

Normal acceptable behavior in Thailand.

Is she Chinese or Thai Chinese ?

Hope the little girl recovers quickly.

Assault on a police officer.

A child injured.

Good thing she didn't smoke at the beach or she would be in real trouble.

I really don't want to read later on about a 500baht fine and Wai's all around.

No way should they pay anything, it is all there on video she is in the wrong so many ways.

She should have the book thrown at her and made to pay all damages and hospital bills.

You probably won’t hear about the outcome as usual.

That's not dangerous driving its assault with what is potentially a deadly weapon. They should upgrade the charge.

They say Chinese drivers are far worse than Thai's, I have witnessed that on many occasions.

I hope they don't leave her with a lousy 500 Bhat fine. She need to spend couple of weeks in a monkey house with a huge fine.

Totally agree. Do that in the US, Aussie or Europe and your feet won't touch the ground. Especially trying to injure a police officer like that. Fine, jail and substantial driving ban there. Maybe get shot in the US!

Let's see what happens to her here.

I don't know the rights or wrongs of this so I will not be too quick to judge but I do know that the Chinese, especially the women are easily frightened.  Maybe she was afraid of the cop and just wanted to get out of there as quickly as possible.  Objectivity is scarce here.

Hmmm. So illegally parking was down to what? Scared of car parks?

No excuse for driving like that. She was lucky having injured a child and mother that the "mob' didn't do a beat down or she would have had something to be scared of!

To be fair, the patience and passiveness of Thai police officers in such situations is amazing!

Imagine how a US cop would've reacted!

Like that

Where's the media follow-up to this event?

Is she a bit of a mixed up Chinese tourist who thinks we drive on the right, or is she Chinese-Thai and is a bit above herself?

Why?  Because that's what insurance policies are for.

Why do you think that people have to have car insurance?  She will be paying, through her insurer, that's what they're for!

Go on, have a go at the police officer for no reason.

Not having a go at him, just making a statement (but was corrected as to him not having a gun due to being Traffic Officer ) & if he did have one he could of used it to prevent himself being seriously injured

Another Reply Just for you - We know TIT but in other countries (maybe your home one ) I bet your claim would be thrown out after seeing that & she would have to foot the bill - Illegal parking / Resisting an officer / Mallicious injury / Hit & Run ect , ect

Sorry but loosing the plot like she did running over a traffic cop and then running into a bike and putting a kid in hospital and you think the insurance company have to pay?.

With a US cop she would have been full of bullets and if she lived she would have a HUGE bail like 300,000 to 500,000 dollars....

I hope that the insurance paid properly. The insurance makes sense for both parties, the driver who causes an accident and his victims. Therefore a proper insurance should be a must.
For the victims I hope that they got best available treatment and that the insurance pays this.
For the driver I hope that the insurance company will claim back all this money plus handling fees as such behavior should not be covered by any insurance policy.
