Accident Music Teacher Dies in Motorcycle Crash After School Band Practice
Picture courtesy of Khaosod. A music teacher from a prominent secondary school in Bangkok has died after his motorcycle crashed into the back of a truck in the early hours of the morning. The fatal crash occurred at approximately 01:30, on the Kanchanaphisek Outer Ring Road outbound carriageway, in the Salathammasop area of Thawi Watthana District. Police and rescue workers were called to the scene, located on the parallel road near the Bang Ramat Canal flyover. Upon arrival, authorities found a black Toyota Fortuner with severe front and side damage blocking the road. The driver, 50-year-old Mr. Pakin, a general manager at an industrial firm, was uninjured. Roughly 10 metres away, a large Isuzu trailer truck registered in Udon Thani was parked in the leftmost lane. The truck had rear-end damage on its left side. The lorry was reportedly transporting coconut husk fibre from Chumphon to Pak Chong, Nakhon Ratchasima. Nearby, officers found a heavily damaged Zontes 368G motorcycle registered in Bangkok. A helmet lay on the ground, and its rider was found unconscious with severe injuries. Emergency responders performed CPR, but the victim was later pronounced dead. Forensic doctors at Siriraj Hospital identified the deceased as Mr. Ekkasit a 41-year-old teacher at a well-known secondary school in Phasi Charoen district. The post-mortem revealed a fractured skull and significant blood loss. According to the truck driver, 32-year-old Ms. Jiraporn, her vehicle had been stationary in the left lane with hazard lights flashing after being struck in the rear by the Fortuner. While waiting for insurance personnel to assess the scene, the motorcycle reportedly clipped the Fortuner’s door before losing control and slamming into the truck’s trailer. Colleagues from the school told reporters that Mr. Ekkasit had earlier finished supervising a marching band rehearsal for students and was heading home, which was only two kilometres from the crash site. Police believe the teacher may not have seen the prior collision on the dark stretch of road and was unable to react in time. Investigators are reviewing CCTV footage and continuing to question both drivers involved to determine the exact cause of the incident. Adapted by Asean Now from Khaosod 2025-06-28 -
