The source :clap2:

When you read this http://cwur.org/about.php, a group of researchers in Dubai lacks the credibility of the Times Higher Ed - the paper of the profession. Dubai is also connected to the American university market (apart from the oil) so there might be a conflict of interest there.

Interesting.  How would the Dubai folks be wrong if they made the same assertion in the other direction?  In other words . . .

When you read this https://www.timeshighereducation.com/about-us, a group of researchers in the UK lacks the credibility of the CWUR - the largest and most comprehensive academic ranking of global universities.  The UK is also connected to the UK university market, so there might be a conflict of interest there.

A perceptive observation, beautifully put across. Some of these old posters do get a little partisan, at times . . . lacking in creditability and credibility, if you ask me.

There is research for the purpose of adding to the font of human knowledge and there is research for the sake of meeting the "more research criteria". There is too much of the latter but that's the world we live in!

Oy! . . . I was just gonna say that. :post-4641-1156694606:

A damn shame. With as much money as they rake in, they should be able to climb into the top 100. As it is, they’re little more than degree mills.

What more research needed? Didn't Thailand invent the cure for Ebola and the "please send me money , buffalo is sick" scam?

:sorry: maybe we need to do some research on the telepathic powers of Thai Visa:drunk:

Investigating what different people say about the CWUR they are more reputable than I first thought. I too would be surprised if the Times Higher Ed did not put Oxbridge first - vested interest. For years I had seen Times Higher Ed as the profession's paper, maybe CWUR are usurping their position as university rankers - I don't know.

I noted that Mahidol was higher than Chula in Times Higher Ed.

Despite the way I put it I was not attempting to be combative or nationalistic. Wrong place to post.
