BANGKOK, 27 October 2017 (NNT) – The Royal Thai Police has announced that the overall performance of officers to ensure public safety and continued smooth flow of traffic during the royal cremation ceremonies for His Majesty the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej was satisfactory.

The Deputy Commander of the Royal Thai Police, Pol. Gen. Detnarong Suthichanbancha, said the police forces will remain at different venues to oversee security and maintain order until October 29th, 2017, when the royal ceremonies have concluded.

Pol. Gen. Detnarong said all roads have been opened to traffic, but certain roads will be temporarily closed to allow the royal procession of transferring the late King’s royal ashes from the Grand Palace to Ratchabophit Sathit Maha Simaram Ratcha Wara Maha Wihan temple and then to Bowonniwet Vihara temple, where the royal ashes will be kept.

The deputy national police chief said traffic officers have been facilitating commuters heading back to their provinces, after attending the royal cremation in Bangkok on October 26th, 2017. However, some mourners may remain in the capital until all the ceremonies have ended.
