My sneakers are falling apart and it's embarrassing but I need to wear something.

Have been to all the shops in Pattaya and bangkok and while they do have size 13 or 47 euro they are not extra wide

Surely I'm not the only farang in Thailand that needs 2e wide shoe

Anyone found something?

I buy mine overseas. Expensive as heck but worth it.
I need to go to Europe in a few months. Probably best option is to buy a dozen pair

Not a good idea to buy a dozen pair, because they will fall apart before you have the chance to wear them.

I've seen a few farangs walking around bare foot. Makes me cringe but may have to join them

I am one of those farang who walk about barefooted. I just can't find footwear to fit. The most uncomfortable thing for me is climbing ladders in bare feet. Feeding the pigs is also not nice. Poo poo gets under your toenails.

30bht super glue from 7-11, work your way round the unglued bits. Usually takes 2-3 goes on different days of wearing to get it all. Gorilla glue works well on the sole to shoe part.

All my shoes purchased in the west do the same thing. I suspected bacteria of eating the glue, 'cos it's all gone.

But humidity is also a good theory.

I've taken the 7/11 glue approach with a couple of tennis shoes where the bottom layer of rubber on the sole began separating from the rest of the sole. And it worked just fine... Obviously, better to do the super glue when the edges start separating and not wait till the whole sole is flopping off.

But, I had some other sports shoes where the whole portion of the rubber sole began separating from the fabric portion of the shoe. In that case, I tried to get my local shoe shop guy to do a glue job, but he insisted it wouldn't work. But what he did, and it did work, was to sew (presumably with a very heavy needle) the sole portion into the bottom foot portion of the shoe. Been wearing it for months just fine ever since.

As for shoe size, I wear a 15-16 2E or 4E depending on the brand. Nowhere to be found here AFAIK.

A month or so back, upon recommendation, I went checking at a couple of the shoe shops at Mega Bangna, one was Ecco and I think the other was Birkenstock. Both topped out at size 12 or 13. I don't remember about the width, but they might have had a double wide in those sizes.

I order all my shoes from the U.S., either when I'm back for visits or have them forwarded here by mail.

I have the same problem as the OP, wide feet. I am also one of those types who has always worn socks and never been able to break the habit.

I am a size 7 shoe in the UK, over here size 43. I got around the wider foot issue by wearing plimsolls, similar to those pictured. Because they are soft these plimsolls will stretch and eventually mould into a perfect fit. They are also hard wearing, usually lasting for 2 to 3 years.

Very comfortable and combined with the socks do not rub against my feet. They can be bought anywhere, at all big stores and the local markets, from 200 to 300 a pair.

If you can break the habit of only wearing the typical touristy Farlang gear, then finding footwear in Thailand will be no problem.

By all accounts Thai reconstruction of body parts could be the answer.

They need to be running shoes with good cushioning. I don't think they can make those

order on line or choose to be less fussy. People were wearing shoes a long time before the invention of running shoes. Anyway it's good to have several pairs and alternate them every few days. It is very good for food and bone health.

I'm not fussy, it's my knees that need strong cushions. If I could buy several pairs I would but they need to be 2e

I'm going to order online from a store in oz that does extra wide. Thanks everyone for your input

I like to buy New Balance brand walking and sports shoes, in part because they stock many sizes up to 16 or larger, and up to 4E or 6E in width.

I usually buy those either from Amazon U.S. (save pairs I like to a wish list where I can keep track of their pricing changes) or from a New Balance outlet store:

https://www.joesnewbalanceoutlet.com/

Amazon has pretty regular sales on their shoes, including New Balance. And so does Joe's NB, especially if you sign up for their emails which they send regularly. So I just wait until I see a good price/discount offered on a pair of shoes I want, and then buy the shoes then.

As for getting the shoes, I either pick them up on occasional trips back to the U.S., or just as often, have the shoes re-shipped to Thailand from my U.S. addresses with services like Planet Express or Shipito.

As long as you send via their Airmail or USPS services (and don't use DHL or Fed Ex, and don't use Amazon's own international shipping service), the customs duties typically are either none or at most a few hundred baht.
