webfact
PM Prayut satisfied with overall economic situation, calls for cooperation BANGKOK, 30 October 2017 (NNT) - The Prime Minister, Gen. Prayut Chan-o-cha, said he is satisfied with Thailand's overall economic situation, and has called on all parties to cooperate with the government to make positive changes. Gen. Prayut said the Thai economy has improved since the government came to power in 2014, confirming that all processes will be in line with the government's roadmap. He insisted that the general election date announcement was not the only factor contributing to the economic growth, as investors already have the confidence in the country. However, the Prime Minister said it is important to create an economic balance in every dimension, including spending and purchasing powers, investments from public, private and foreign sectors, and exports. The Prime Minister said investments and exports will likely improve continually, so it is necessary to focus on solving the problems of low-income earners. He went on to say that the government has never abandoned the people. He said economic stimulus measures and measures have been implemented to relieve their financial burden, but time is needed to see concrete results. Gen. Prayut has called on the people to understand and cooperate with the government to develop themselves, fine-tune their ways of thinking, increase their performance output and reduce unnecessary cost for rapid changes. -- nnt 2017-10-

Of coarse there are the farang expats who are not happy with Thailand and the Junta's progress, however they will whinge and whine all day long so you can never please some folks. However, what exactly has changed? Do you understand why there is flooding in Thailand? I don't think so,. Here are some hints; Monsoon season; Building in high risk flood zones; Blocking of natural drainage ; Destruction of the water shed including the destruction of forest lands in protected zones, Inappropriate damming and water release activities upstream courtesy of China and its vassal state Laos; and Failure to maintain drainage systems. what exactly has been done to help the poor? Are you blind to the fact that child poverty has increased, that personal debt has increased and that there are more people living below the established poverty line than 5 years ago? So please explain what the General Prime Minister has done aside from collect tax from me.

Cadbury
PM Prayut yet again sounding like a snake-oil salesman from the Kickapoo Indian Medicine Company. He glibly talks of election dates and economic growth, investor confidence with a few buzz words thrown in like "government's road map", "economic balance" and "economic stimulus". He has compassion for the low income earners and is happy to visit the farming folk and help them by kissing a few frogs. All of this junta promo doublespeak while the GDP percentage growth of Thailand doesn't come close to that of some of it's neighbours. Military weaponry is their top priority and that hardly makes the economy grow.
ezzra
Errrr, what else can he say? that the economy is not good? the nature of unelected junta leaders is to say what the people wants to hear and the hell with the truth, after all one man's truth is another fantasy....and who's to say otherwise?.... Why do you address your uninformed if insolent remarks to farangs only.Their opinions are in any event unlikely to be of much influence. Why don't you consider the views of the Thai people? Do you think they are happy with the current state of affairs? Given a free choice unfettered by repression and a rigged constitution drawn up by army stooges, what kind of government do you think the majority would support? Why does criticism of incompetence, dishonest and entrenched vested interests mean that one doesn't like Thailand? Should the Thai majority who look for better times also move to Laos? I don't think that would be very practical.
cmsally
https://www.focus-economics.com/countries/thailand https://ec.europa.eu/agriculture/sites/agriculture/files/trade-analysis/statistics/outside-eu/countries/agrifood-thailand_en.pdf Maybe the "doing better" crowd could come up with some details. On a quick skim read, it would seem consumer spending and private investment depressed and down . Government spending and exports are up. On a quick look at exports it would seem the not so bad statistics are resting on agriculture and tourism. Tourism could be the Chinese numbers and bulk in general. On looking at agriculture it seems that biggest increase is in meat products. How much is CP involved in these numbers? In the case of "doing better" for the Thai population it would require a much deeper analysis of statistics. I doubt the details go as deep as required to put together a picture of how the Thai population could or could not benefit.

The PM is wonderful, the Government and all its officials are competent and incorruptible, the police force is the best in the world, the road accident figures are improving and the poor are getting richer with household debt subsiding and exports and the general economy are beyond the wildest expectations.
