Boy's tale of abuse and travel like something out of Dickens

Police in Chumporn heard a tale from a young boy who ran away from home that resembled a tale from the pen of Victorian writer Charles Dickens.

But it happened in modern day Thailand.

The boy - given the moniker "B" and aged just 12 - ran away from his central Thailand home of Saraburi. He said he had been repeatedly hit and abused by both his parents.

They whacked him all over his body and a month later his wounds had still not recovered. He had marks all over his arms and legs.

He said both his parents are drug addicts.

So after a particularly savage beating he left home at the beginning of October and traveled towards Bangkok. He got to the Hualampong area of the capital where he begged for food and shelter from strangers.

Eventually he found his way to Hua Hin last weekend where he met a construction worker - Amorn Bunsak, 28, - waiting for a train.

"He said he had no mum and dad," said Amorn, " and I felt sorry for him". He allowed to boy to come with him on his journey to Lang Suan in the South where he was returning to work and he stayed for a few days.

But then Amorn decided to take him to the police who called in child protection services.

"B" is now in the care of Chumporn services before he is transferred to a child protection home in Saraburi where his journey began.

Khun AMORN is a good person , should be more like him.

Yes I agree, but there would have been no train ride or stay it would have been straight to the nearest cop shop

No way I would put myself in harms way in that manner in this world we live in today

This story just shows that Thais have compassion and take care of their own people.   In the really old days he could have been sold as a slave.  So I guess progress.

There's someone else who doesn't know what a 3rd world country is and how Thailand fits into the scheme of things, neither can he put a literate sentence together.

OK.... OK.... Maybe you could tell us..... with your apparent literate skills (which you haven't demonstrated yet).......

My comment wasn't addressed to you but if you bother to read the post that I commented on you will understand the second part of my comment and you can do your own research on the first part, it's not too difficult.

Fortunate for the boy who found a sympathetic soul to take him, yes, just like in Oliver Twist.  Too many would have used him to their advantage, just as likely in nearly any other country as well.

Some of my own best encounters with Thai people have been on train rides.
