Court of Justice spokesman Suriyan Hongwilai

Court of Justice spokesman Suriyan Hongwilai on Wednesday warned people not to give out personal information or financial details to bogus court officials over the phone.

He said court officials would not make a request for personal information on the phone and people should file a police complaint to have scammers arrested.

The scam reportedly caused Songkhla Provincial Court to receive nearly 100 phone calls on Tuesday to ask if officials would request people’s personal information such as Thai national ID card numbers and financial details, he said.

Suriyan urged people to beware of bogus court officials claiming that they could not send court summonses or warrants to recipients and then asking for more information to check certain facts. In some cases, victims were lured to make transactions via ATMs or Internet banking to wire money.

Just about everything in Thailand is bogus including simple things like TAT and GDP growth statistics. How are people supposed to know which are more or less bogus than others? The pretend government phonies like these or the real government phonies.
