Car and motorbike driver license renewal

Recommended Posts

Hello guys,

My car and motorbike driver licenses expired in May.

I am going to Thailand in December and would like to renew them.

There are quite a lot of topics opened on this question and I found that I need a letter from my embassy, don't need it etc.

Anyone who has the real info about what is needed for renewal?

Kind regards,

are you changing from a 1 or 2 year licence to a 5 year, or a 5 year to a 5 year.

you will need an address certificate from immigration or your embassy.

I am going today for a renewal of my driving license (2d renewal). Official info from the Phuket office is that I need:

passport

copy of photo page from ppt

copy of my current visa or extension

certificate of residence from Immigration or my embassy

My office won't renew if they've expired by more than one month.

Have to sit the full test, or if you have a foreign licence will issue the 2 year licence again.

It will help if you tell us where you are going to re new as each office seems to have some different requirements, we can then move it to the appropriate forum for local knowledge and input

I am renewing it from 5 to 5 years in Bangkok.

Any advice to which office to go and what certificate of residence must contain except the Thai address?

List of Bangkok DLT centres here;

You'll need to be holding a Non Imm type Visa to obtain the 5 year licence.

You can obtain a C of R from Chaeng Wattana Immigration, but need proof of your address such as a copy of your landlords Tabien baan and ID card.

The Cof R confirms your address and the purpose of it's issue, i.e. obtain a d/l or purchase a vehicle.

Thank you very much.

I don't have an immigrant visa so it seems I will need to extend it for 2 years.

Going to Thailand from Hungary so I won't have a visa but just be there for 3 weeks.

I will visit one of their offices and ask them what they need as I guess all of them want different papers.
