snoop1130 Posted November 9, 2017 Share Posted November 9, 2017 New Thai-Lao bus route open A ceremony was held in Nan province on Thursday (Nov 9) for the launch of a new bus route (Nan-Xayaburi-Luang Prabang), the 15th one linking Thailand with Laos and Cambodia. Jirasak Yaowatsakul, president of the Transport Company, said after the ceremony, chaired by Nan governor Paisal Wimolrat, that the bus service on the 373-kilometre Nan – Xayaburi – Luang Prabang route will be jointly operated by the Transport Company of Thailand and the Naluang Transport Company of Laos, using 21-seat mini-buses. The bus route is intended to promote tourism and boost the economy of the two countries under the framework of the Asean Economic Community (AEC). Reason for asking was that the trip via Pudu (456kms) would be more than over Hongsa (371kms) but the longer route is pristine and easier to drive. Correct, the 373kms stretch leaves Nan towards the North, crosses at Huay Khon into Muang Ngern and onto Hongsa. From there southeast towards Xayabouly, cross the Mekong (Tha Deua bridge) all the way up to Xieng Ngern and onto Luang Prabang - on the enclosed map shown in blue. The Pudu-Run goes south of Nan, crosses at Pudu and onto Pak Lay, Xayabouly and then as shown above, via Xieng Ngern to Luang Prabang - on the enclosed map shown in grey.
