If used properly you will not need to do an extension or get a new visa for almost 2 years.

Every time you enter the country you will get a new 1 year entry as long as you do it on or before the enter before date (6 Nov 2018?) on the visa. After that date you would need get a re-entry permit to keep that last entry valid if you want to travel.

Joe, can you please confirm that as long as you enter before this date (6 Nov 2018) in this case, you can leave and enter as many times as you wish up to the 5 Nov 2019 hypothetically as long as you have a multi re-entry permit?
After that date you would need a one year extension of stay based on retirement?

Many thanks.

Your muli re-entry permit is set to the last allowed entry until date so it expires on the same day as your last entry allowed.  So no that is not correct unless your last entry is indeed on the 6th of November 2018

Until 6 Nov 2018, you can exit and reenter Thailand at will, with no need for a re-entry permit.

If you go abroad and return on or after 7 Nov 2018, if you wish to keep your permission to stay intact, you must get a re-entry permit before your departure. Optimum use of the Non-OA visa is to do a border hop around 5 or 6 Nov 2018 (getting a one-year permission to stay until 5 or 6 Nov 2019) and subsequently always ensure you have a re-entry permit when leaving Thailand with the intention of returning before 5/6 Nov 2019. To stay in Thailand after 5/6 Nov 2019, you will need either a new visa, or to apply for an extension of your permission to stay.

Only if your last enter was actually on Nov 6th. Whenever you enter on or before Nov 6th you'll be given permission to stay for 1 year. E.g. if your last entry, using the visa, was Nov 2nd 2018 you'd be given permission to stay until Nov 1st 2019. A re-entry permit would allow you to come and go until Nov 1st 2019.

You would need an extension of stay or leave the country. An extension of stay could be based on retirement or any other reason you qualify for.

Many thanks. I will be backwards and forwards between the U.K. and Thailand d during this year so I ensure I get a multiple re entry permit before expiry to ensure my permission to stay remains intact.

Much obliged.
