webfact Posted November 16, 2017 Posted November 16, 2017 "Pattaya is a great host" as tourists and locals wowed by Boat Show arrangements Picture: Sophon Cable An upbeat Sophon Cable TV forgot Pattaya's woes to praise arrangements for the International Boat Show saying that locals and tourists alike loved the 'new look' Bali Hai port area. The news media - that has spent much of the year slamming the authorities for mishandling trash on the beach and other issues - was gushing in praise saying that "Pattaya would be a great host" for the show that celebrates 50 years of ASEAN. They said that the Royal Thai Navy and other authorities had pulled out all the stops in beautifying Bali Hai and the roads of the resort creating a festival atmosphere. Whether it was the decorations, the dancing fountains or the 40 Navy ships in town and at Sattahip, Pattaya was 100% ready to host the event that runs until November 22nd. Some 38 countries are sending representatives and boats for the flagship event that is hoped to herald in the high tourist season by presenting Pattaya in an international and favorable light as the resort attempts to re-brand itself. buvsofia Posted November 16, 2017 Posted November 16, 2017 It's all about the facade. Pattaya is a great host since the 60-ies........what's new here.
champers Posted November 16, 2017 Posted November 16, 2017 The military and the police are out in force. Thai sailors armed with brooms and pans are sweeping up the rubbish on the pavements. The police were busy making a very public arrest, of what appeared to be a vendor, on the beach at the bottom of klang. The large crowd of tourist onlookers didn't seem to be wowed to me.
flynn Posted November 16, 2017 Posted November 16, 2017 You can’t polish a turd......but you can roll it in glitter,,,,,,phrase comes to mind.

balo Posted November 16, 2017 Posted November 16, 2017 The important guests from all around the world will be treated the same way as visitors to Pyongyang , North Korea . "Look how clean and nice everything is , oh but don't walk that way .no no , that's not for you , stay here with us , this is the real deal "
Basil B Posted November 16, 2017 Posted November 16, 2017 What worries me is there has not been a boat sinking recently... I can not believe the boat handling skills of the Pattaya skippers had made such a remarkable improvement.
DD13 Posted November 16, 2017 Posted November 16, 2017 Bravo Pattaya.....credit where credit is due Next project "bulldoze" the squalid ghetto Walking Street.... Plenty of undeveloped land away from the beach.... In walking distance of most hotels Build a quality marina incorporating modern shops and hygienic restaurants......along the boardwalk The present occupiers should be grateful their turnover will soar
mok199 Posted November 16, 2017 Posted November 16, 2017 I must admit..events in pattaya come and go,but looking at all these ships in the harbor tonight is very very cool...
wgdanson Posted November 16, 2017 Posted November 16, 2017 Didn't see that someone else mentioned polishing a turd, many of which can be found in the sea around Pattaya.
