Song thaew drivers who deliver children to schools in Narathiwat have been warned by their association to be on the lookout.

Manager reporters went to one of the province's biggest downtown religious schools Attankiya Islam Miya after a number of accidents in the area.

The school has 4,000 pupils from M1 to M6 (secondary level)) mostly brought in by song thaew buses from outlying areas.

One driver Makeuta Awekadae, 56, said that the association he is part of had conducted training of all drivers to "be aware of incidents".

He said they were doing their best to ensure the safety of school children with drivers having been trained in road craft and vehicle road worthiness courses.

The advisories seemed to be related to road accidents but at least 6,500 people have died in the insurgency troubles in recent years in the southern border provinces.

Ok so before this these drivers were not trained in "road craft."  (what is road craft anyway?)

They also received training in vehicle road worthiness courses. Super, they are mechanics also.

Is this planet earth?  Can someone pinch me?
