I can't even open a bank account in Thailand but yet I'm expected to pay Thai tax?
It is uniquely Thai - a visa that allows you to stay long term and be a tax resident. But also makes it very difficult to get banking. In other countries if you have the visa to live for 5 years then banking is not an issue at all. Like a Thai living in the UK for 5 years would have no issues with walking into just about any bank and getting an account, or use one of the many neobanks to sign up online in 5 mins. -

While I definitely agree with the last sentence, I do have reservations about the "scientific integrity" alleged in the first one: look at that article I posted in this thread about the kickbacks paid to physicians per vaccine given. Do you acknowledge the reality of this, and do you consider it ethical? Fair enough, but I really do think there is an empirical aspect to this. From what I have seen in the "antivaxxer" realm, there are lots of reasonable parents who are not really active on social media (and therefore not that susceptible to it), but who simply realised the temporal causation between their children's vaccination and the appearance of symptoms of autism, hyperactivity, epilepsy etc. They would have to and eventually would, whether they liked it or not. Hence the utmost importance of such studies being carried out. -

Some rooms get colder than others, at times...of course... 16 degrees is a bit cool, during the HOT season in Thailand. Cooling by PANASONIC, of course. -

And on any flight into Oz from Bangkok there is an additional security check at the entrance to the gate. I have seen people lose bottles of booze that they have purchased at duty free on numerous occasions. It has nothing to do with the normal security scans that everyone must go through before passport control. Every bag/ backpack etc is inspected by hand. Duty free booze can be purchased, but must be in a sealed bag and delivered to the gate after the bag search. Unfortunately not every knows this and can lose a couple of hundred bucks of fine booze.
