Hi

My lawn has started to become really bad with weeds the grass still seems ok but if i dont do something i might have more weed than grass , i bought weedkiller from homepro & tried on a small area and it just left a burnt patch ( i diluted it according to the instructions) ,there doesnt seem to be much choice of weedkiller available in thailand & i am travelling back & forth regularly (due to work) between thailand & uk

Seen loads of weedkiller in garden centres in uk but need one that will kill the weeds but not the grass & can you take weedkiller in your suitcase in checked baggage

Thaks for any help

If you're going back to the UK then Weedol Lawn is what you want.

Shouldn't be a problem if stowed in your check in luggage.

I have the same problem, asked at the garden market chemical shop and the girl knew what I wanted but they didn't stock it.

She showed me a picture of the chemical, which is produced in Thailand, on her mobile but I've not been able to find it.

Some of the weed killers used in rice are suitable (2.4,D) but need experimenting with.

In fact nearly every piece of land will change in a more or less nice lawn when you just cut the grass. Start with cutting daily. when it is more or less a lawn you can reduce to once a week. Applying compost/fertilizer will help.

No it won't.

Roundup

Wrong! Roundup (glyphosate) is a grass killer supreme.  Selective herbicides that kill broadleaf weeds in a grass lawn include active ingredients of 2-4D, dicamba and some others.

But why not get on board with an organic program:

Consider starting over by removing existing grass, preparing the soil well and installing new sod.

Problem with starting again is that i have 600m2 of sod to replace

That would be a big project, but consider 100 m2 a year.

Roundup

I remembered that Monsanto RoundUp brand has a new broadleaf weedkiller for lawns, that is not glyphosate grass killer at all. Maybe that what was referred to, although I didn't think it was available here.

I'm not promoting or recommending it, but for the discussion:

Roundup® For Lawns2 Concentrate

Active Ingredients

3.85% MCPA, dimethylamine salt, 1.80% Quinclorac, 0.43% Dicamba, dimethylamine salt, 0.22% Sulfentrazone
