What Would You Do Next?

When the Thais have produced a country that most of us want to live in or visit why do we critisize them so much?

Cheers

Some of us have a little gentle fun as you

would have with a friend. We rarely criticise

and we never "criticize".

Sorry.

KanWin Sorry, I hope I'm not included either :D .

I guess you guys would agree that there seems to be too much senseless criticism of Thais and Tailand on TV.

Cheers

Decrease the VOA to 4 days and up the price for a 60 day Tourist Visa to $1500.

Make it illegal for a Thai girl to stay in a Hotel room with a foreigner (after all, prostitution is illegal).

Decrease the percentage of a company a foreigner can own from 49% to 0.49%.

Increase kickbacks and bribes to the BiB to further stimulate the economy and add to business confidence.

Get some more Military personell to act as finance advisors and make some more market moving decisions.

Where else would you suggest we do it? :o

3) Religious or racial slurs, rude and degrading comments towards women, or extremely negative views of Thailand will not be tolerated.

I guess not here. :D

Cheers

you got to admit that the master strokes of the last 6 months are breathtaking in conception.

- Visa rules

- Coup

- Foreign Businees Act

so all you hoity-toity foreigners out there,

can you match it the best?

what would you do next?

You forgot the various morality bans like the alcohol ad debacle.

To top it all I would make prostitution illegal through draconian measures and start by closing down all the main strips that made Thailand famous.

I think this would effectively shut Thailand down completely because a lot of upcountry girls and part time college students will be broke.

New immigration requirement for long term visa: Jump through hoops.

Literally.

Video of the same made into the super hit Thai reality TV show:

Alien: So You Think You Can Jump Through Hoops?

Guest Host: Borat

Deportations of farang visa applicants who failed to jump through hoops are followed by handcam to the new airport, Don Muang SoSueMe Airport, at the old Don Muang. Current new airport converted into the largest massage parlor in the world. Speciality, elephant massage.

Well a good place to start would be to the faces of the (Thai) people who's country you chose to live in.

Not for very much longer.

Numbers are already down about 50% this year.

Source for that rather wild claim?

To answer the OP, I wouldnt change that much. All the three things mentioned are steps in the right direction.

The tightening visa rules is designed to clamp down on long-term 'holiday-makers' exploiting loopholes in the immigration laws.

While the jury is out on the future of the country politically, most educated people welcomed the departure of Thaksin.

And the foreign business act changes are the biggest non-event for ages and - again - close some loopholes.

Big deal.

Vunderbar post, marklamai.

Mebbe I'd try to find a new political leader with qualities akin to that of HM the King who could pull the country together, boost the economy, improve education and health care, and halt the bloodshed in the south.

I'll second that.
