The Marine Science Association of Thailand has confirmed that the sea water off Bang Saen beach in Chon Buri province has turned pink because of a phenomenon called plankton blooms and they are not harmful.

Experts from the assocation conducted an examination of the sea water at the request of the Saen Suk Municipality, which was informed by the local people and tourists that the sea water off Bang Saen beach in Tambon Saen Suk of Chon Buri’s Muang district has turned pink with some materials which looked like dust particles in it.

From a preliminary examation, the sea water is without an unusual smell and does not cause an itch.  Tourists can still play in the water without a case of an allergic reaction.

Marine scientists here seem pretty thin on curiosity...

Would not the reasons for plankton blooms advance their scientific knowledge?

What a gay day. ?

Burapha University (2 minutes drive from the beach) has a Marine Science Department, so if they can't get to the bottom of it I don't know who could. They have a nice aquarium with some great examples of jellyfish.

At least nobody at the Marine Science Association of Thailand accused the gay community to be behind it,- so far.

At least its not a brown plankton bloom like the ones in Patong.

Pink is a beatiful color 5555
