Three arrested in Hat Yai, 520kg of marijuana seized

By The Nation

Police arrested three men early on Friday after 520 kilograms of marijuana were found hidden inside a trailer truck driven by them from Udon Thani to Hat Yai border town in Songkhla.

The joint operation at 2am was carried out by officers from the Crime Suppression Division and Narcotics Suppression Bureau.

Police found the drugs on the trailer truck parked on Soi 18 off Ratuthit Road in downtown Hat Yai.

The truck owner, Suchart Saengtawan, 45, was arrested along with his two employees, Sathporn Kingkaew, 24, and Somkid Senpisaeng, 31.

A police officer from the arrest team said they followed the truck from Udon Thani after they received tips-off that the truck was transporting the drugs to Hat Yai.

The officer said police believed part of the shipment was to be smuggled to Malaysia with the rest destined to be sold to drug dealers in the southern border provinces.

Police will further investigate to try to identify the source and buyers of the drug, the police source added.

Police has weeded out the(ir) competition...

When will they start to feel stupid ? I am sure that they know that for 1 truck stopped 50 arrived at destination !

...no more merry Christmas and happy new years for a few...

Police were tipped off.        As they say, if more than one person knows, it's not a secret.

Plenty looking to profit either by eliminating the competition, or cash.
