SIX KALASIN TEACHERS, who recently exposed a school director for allegedly demanding and accepting bribes, have filed a police complaint claiming that they had received death threats and were now in fear for their own safety.

The unnamed school director was accused of taking a Bt30,000 bribe from each teacher in exchange for approving special promotions.

He has been transferred from the school in Kuchi Narai district to an inactive post at the Primary Educational Service Area Office 3 indefinitely pending the results of a fact-finding investigation, which is expected within 15 days.

The six teachers, led by Wassana Pongratchata, had filed a complaint with the Kalasin Dhamrongtham Center and the provincial education office chief and submitted evidence that included documents and video clips last month. They called for the school director to be punished for such a serious ethical breach.

Wassana said her group wanted Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-o-cha to have related agencies investigate the director’s alleged bribe-taking. The teachers also want officials to provide them security as they claimed to have received death threats after their accusations.

Primary Educational Service Area Office 3 chief Panrat Poltua also went to meet Kalasin Dhamrongtham Centre director Chuleeporn Phusomsri. He said his office had assigned a fact-finding panel to investigate the case and had transferred the accused on Thursday.

Firstly, if any of the allegations regarding the bribe(s) and subsequent threats are true, I applaud those that had the courage and integrity to come forward and expose this person.
A solid brave move in the right direction.

Kind of makes me wonder how many teachers gunned down in the deep south are actually victims of insurgents, and how many just got on the wrong side of powerful people.

Just more of the same, paying for positions starts at the top!

The 6 teachers entered the lottery when they paid the bribes.  Now they are complaining they didn't win.

You pay your money and take your chance; that's how a lottery works.

And.....!  You play with fire, you get burnt!

If you buy a lottery ticket, you can't ask for your money back if you don't win.  The teachers paid a bribe to get a better job.  Ufortunately, the school director didn't deliver, so they bubbled him, causing him to lose face.  Unless you've been in Thailand less a week, you'll understand that losing face can quite often lead to a murder or two.

Have a good Christmas and New Year.
